ย ย ย Read moreLet me begin by saying that this place does not meet a restaurant standard on any level. We ordered the king mackerel fillet in masala and enquired ahead to ensure if the fish was fresh. The owner assured us that the fish was fresh and it's brought in everyday. We got the fish and immediately at the first bite knew it had been frozen for a while. Reviews of this place said the fillet was "juicy". I tried to find it, but I'm sure my palate was not at fault here. It was sort of hard and dry both. We enquired from the waiter once again if the fish was fresh and he said it was. Upon saying that the fish was dry, he said fish is just like that, as if speaking to someone who's eating fish for the first time. He went back to the kitchen and they gossiped some more about this. We made the mistake of ordering dessert too, banoffee pie. My god. I cannot believe they serve this here. It was hard as a rock when it came to us. It was still thawing! You can see the banana frozen white in the picture ๐ฉ We somehow managed to finish it and I asked another waiter, when the dessert was made, and he as-a-matter-of-fact-ly said "oh just 5-6 days ago". I tried not to grimace too much. Is that supposed to be okay to serve? And the worst part was he didn't think there was anything wrong in serving 5-6 days old dessert. He said they just make it and freeze it so it doesn't spoil. You know what's better than not doing that? Making it fresh. This was quite an atrocious experience for us, especially hearing about this place being around for quite a while and having some sort of reputation for a reason...
ย ย ย Read moreWe went with high hopes. We are from Mumbai and love good food. We travel a lot and love to explore the food in the places we visit. Sadly, Anju Coco was a big disappointment in terms of food as well as service.
We ordered chicken momos and fish tikka as starters. Momos quality is good. The fish tikka was not upto mark. Solt was less and the fish was not as tender and juicy as it should be. We managed by sprinkling a little salt on it. The biggest disappointment was CRAB MASALA. The crab had hardly any meat and again salt was less. The masala had not penetrated the crab. So the meat was with out any taste. The preparation was not upto the expectations.
It is understandable if the pincers have less masala but the the body which is cut into four parts should have perfect masala with perfect salt.
When we brought this to the attention of the pony tailed waiter he gave us the excuse that 'the masala and salt can't get into the meat'๐
We eat crab regularly, so this sounded like a joke to us. At the billing counter we asked for the owner and were told that he sits in some other place. He said I am only the cashier. So there is no responsible person to deal with any complaints.
He said if we brought it to his notice earlier he would have changed it. And he asked us to come again the next day and taste their continental crab preparation.๐ฎ๐
We said that we had informed the waiter but he didn't take any action.
'Naam bade aur darshan chote '. We are definitely not going back.
Don't go if you want good...
