This is my 2nd time. The first time, I'd called in, checked for reservations and got here for lunch. As the crowd was huge left and got something to snack from Starbucks. My next visit was for a evening high tea.
We ordered, has some chit chat and I'd to leave for the restroom. This is when, I left my card with friends to pay for the coffee and snacks. They charged 2.6K for 2 drinks and a snack.
While I was getting to the parking area, something struck ( as I frequent to Taj in Chennai, Cbe and Trivandrum) and wanted to see the itemized receipt. To my shock, the total bill was just 1.6 K.
One of their staff (Uttam) came running to the parking area, apologized that they overlooked it and the 1K will be refunded in a month.
It's been 4 weeks and I am still waiting for the refund to be sent to my account.
I have called twice so far and couldn't get in touch with any of their managers. All I hear is that they're in the meeting. I didn't even get a call back yet.
This is so unbecoming of TAJ. Pathetic...
Read moreLast night, I indulged in the dinner buffet at Hotel Taj's Varuna restaurant. Located conveniently in the lobby on the ground floor next to the elevators, the restaurant offered a wide spread of delectable dishes. The appetizer selection included aloo bonda, fried paneer fingers, and a dahi papdi chat that received high praise from my colleague from Mumbai. For the main course, options like plain rice, jeera rice, aloo bhindi with dal tadka were on offer. The attentive waiters swiftly fulfilled any additional requests, such as bringing warm phulkas or parathas. The curd rice with mango pickle was heavenly. The dessert spread was equally impressive, showcasing items like beetroot halwa, gulab jamun, kheer, mango pudding, and a scoop of butter scotch ice cream. The abundance of choices left me fully satisfied, unable to indulge in the tempting fruit selection. Overall, a dining experience that comes highly recommended for its quality...

Not a lot of continental options. The taste was ok, but nothing worth visiting a second time. Few things which are common practices in other 5 star buffet restaurants, that weren't met: No one escorted us to our table. None of the staff monitored our table to take care of small things such as placing the glasses, refilling the water when empty, clearing the plates etc., The staff forgot to place a spoon for one of the items in the buffet, which is the first time I have seen it in 5 star...
