Jayanagar’s Heartbeat, My Memory
There are places we stumble upon in life that quietly become more than what they seem. For me, Aamchi Dilli in Jayanagar was never just a restaurant it was a refuge, a rhythm, a heartbeat in the noise of this city. Since that first evening in February 2023, when I found myself within its warm walls, it has been a constant reminder that comfort is not just tasted, it is felt.
Behind the laughter of tables, behind the aroma of food that carried with it the essence of home, there stood one man Mr. Pranil Khivansara. To many, he was the owner, but to me, he became something much deeper a brother in this journey of life. His quiet labor, often hidden from the eyes of those who came and left, is what truly made Aamchi Dilli what it was. Each late night, each little detail, each effort unseen it all lived in the spirit of that place. It wasn’t just built with bricks and recipes, it was built with love, persistence, and a kind of care that is rare to find in this world.
For me, Aamchi Dilli was that one corner of Jayanagar that never let the night feel too heavy. When the city outside grew restless, when the days stretched long, it was the one place that welcomed me back with open arms. It was more than a space it was a sanctuary. The lights, the tables, the walls they held stories, unspoken companionship, and an unshakable sense of belonging.
But now, as the end of this month approaches, Jayanagar will lose this gem. Aamchi Dilli will close its doors here, and with that, a piece of my own heart feels like it is being tucked away. Saying goodbye to a place like this is not easy, because how does one bid farewell to memories that linger in the air, to bonds that grew stronger over shared meals, to the comfort of knowing a place existed simply to be there when you needed it most?
Jayanagar has always held a special place in my heart, but Aamchi Dilli gave it depth it gave it soul. And though the shutters may come down, the memory will not fade. It will live on in every story told, in every friend made, and in the silent gratitude I carry for having had a place that felt like home in the truest sense of the word.
Some places you forget. Some places forget you. But then there are places like Aamchi Dilli etched into you forever. That one place it was in Jayanagar which had seen my everything, the highs & the lows
Lastly, Cheers to the man Mr. Pranil Khivansara. Always & Forever. Thank you...

Token system for orders doesn't seems to be helping either the customer or the staff... You will have to stand by the counter to remind the staff over and over about your order.
I ordered a Pav Bhaji & Dabeli and was expecting a lot is what i realised when the plate came to me. Pav Bhaji- A. The Pav was not roasted at all, neither was it crisp nor was it warm. The bhaji wasn't coated inside the pav (which was fine coz maybe its their style of serving) but not roasting it from the inside was a big turn off. B. The pav bhaji plate looked so disappointing since all that it had has a little bit of onion, pav and bhaji. I had to go ask them for the coriander and sev (these two are ideally served with Pav Bhaji) Dabeli- A. This was okaish to me but there's a lot of room for improvement. The masalas weren't on spot even though they were there. I could taste hints of em but the mildness kinda blows the dish off.
The Head Chef- this person is a serious problem.. I went and asked him for coriander and he put in just a pinch of it on my plate. Thats it! And all because the trays weren't being refilled by his staff. A. Needs to stop breathing down the neck of his staff, and let them cook (unless they aren't doing it all wrong) B. Manage the tray inventory from wherein the items go into the dishes, its his responsibility to make sure that his staff has what they need in order to cook things well. If not manage atleast supervise it. C. Maybe understand the core dishes a little better so that the dishes can stand by the name Amchi-Dilli!
Service - The guys running this joint need to train their staff better and get them do things in an optimized way. I ordered for a vada pav to be parceled, the same was packed but was not handed over to me for 5 long minutes.
A genuine feedback - You guys have the potential to run this biz well, but thigs will Just go to drain if you do not set your SOPs right. Align your staff and recheck on what can be done better to enhance the taste of...
Read moreA one stop place for all Delhi and Mumbai street food. You can visualise this place as a hygienic and sophisticated lorry (thela).
Best part is they will tell you the approximate time they are going to take for dishes requiring longer time to prepare so that you can decide either to wait or order something else.
Portion is standard. Pocket friendly.
Coming to food, except aloo tikki chola, we liked everything. For me special mention would be for pav bhaji and tawa pulao. The typical Mumbai taste. You can’t find these two dishes anywhere else. Jalebi, Lassi and Rabdi were other mouth watering dishes.
Pani puri, aloo tikki chat (dahi), paneer combo, chola bhatura, sabudana vada all were yummy. Will definitely visit again to try misal pav and vada pav.
Thanks to the man Pranil Jain for assisting us with Jain / non Jain orders and making us experience a...
