AMBUR STAR BRIYANI® SINCE 1890- MARATHAHALLI — Restaurant in Bengaluru

Our first visit: It's a 5 Star experience from Ambur Star Briyani - Marathalli. We had dinner, and it was already 11:30 PM. To our surprise, every item on the menu was still available. We ordered for 4 briyani's, one for each. Since that was our first experience with Ambur Star Briyani, we weren't aware of the quantity. The waiter politely requested us to go for 3 briyani instead of 4, since the quantity will be more than expected. And he was true, we went in hungry since we had an early brunch that day, and for the next 10-11 hours we didn't have any food as we were in travel. Yet, we had to push hard to finish the 3 briyani to avoid any wastage. It was plenty full, and the best part was that it was so freshly prepared and tasty despite being very late at night. For the quality and the large portions, I found their price very nominal and worth it. It's definitely on our must-visit again list of restaurants. The bulk order: Our great first experience led us to visit them within the next couple of days. This time it was for a bulk order for 42 Pax. We ordered Non-Veg Pack:1 Chicken Briyani, 3-4 pieces of Chicken 65 and 1 piece of Gulab Jamun. For Veg Pack: 1 Panner Briyani, 7-8 pieces of Mushroom 65 and 1 Piece of Gulab Jamun. The bulk order was placed 3 days in advance and was delivered exactly on the requested date and time without delay. The highlight was the way the food was carefully packed, fresh & hot and importantly, the mouth-watering taste. We had a disappointing experience at the Ambur Star Biryani outlet in Marathahalli on 10th November around 8 PM. We went in with the same expectations we usually recive from other ambur outlets, but were let down.

We ordered 2 chicken starters, 1 mutton biryani, 1 chicken biryani, 1 chicken 65 biryani, and biryani rice. The waiter informed us that the chicken 65 biryani was unavailable, so we asked for an egg biryani instead, but he said that wasn't available either. Finally, we requested two portions of biryani rice, since we had already ordered a regular chicken biryani and a mutton biryani along with two chicken starters, but again the waiter said biryani rice wasn’t available.

Throughout the interaction, the waiter seemed more focused on denying requests rather than offering alternatives.

This was by far the worst service we've experienced in any restaurant. It seemed like the waiter just wasn't in the mood to work that day.

Ultimately, we decided to leave without dining and went to a nearby restaurant for dinner instead.

I hope management takes note of this behavior and...

I have visited many Star Biryani restaurants, but this one was a big disappointment.

The biryani lacked the authentic taste found at other outlets. The quality of the mutton pieces was not up to the mark; most of them were waste pieces. The biryani was not hot. I requested them to make it hot, but after two attempts, they brought the same portion back without much improvement. The chicken pieces in the starters, Ambur Chicken, and Chicken 65 were very hard and tough to chew.

Valet parking and decent service are positives.
