On the occasion of our wedding anniversary, my spouse and I decided to celebrate at Barbeque Nation, Koramangala 1st Block, expecting a delightful lunch experience. However, what unfolded was far from celebratory; it was a distressing encounter that tainted the joyous occasion.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted with optimism, eagerly anticipating a memorable evening. However, our expectations were shattered as the afternoon progressed. The first indication of trouble surfaced when we realized that the service was dreadfully slow. Despite having made a reservation well in advance, we were left waiting for an inordinate amount of time before being seated.

Once seated, the ordeal only exacerbated. The delay in receiving our food was inexplicable. Each passing minute felt like an eternity as we anxiously awaited the arrival of our meal. To exacerbate matters, the quality of service was appalling. Servers seemed indifferent to our plight, displaying a lack of empathy and professionalism.

To compound our frustration, the behavior of the manager further compounded our disappointment. Instead of addressing our concerns with sincerity and urgency, the manager exhibited a dismissive attitude, trivializing our grievances. Their lack of accountability and disregard for customer satisfaction was palpable, leaving us feeling utterly disheartened.

Last Friday checked out their Jakkasandra/Koramangala outlet, and let me just say - it was a total letdown. The grill was barely warming up. We are talking about a BBQ joint where the coal was colder than the pineapple and watermelon that arrived on skewers straight out of the fridge. I mean, who’s in charge here? It took over an hour just to bring it to an acceptable temperature. I raised my concerns with the staff, and sure, they offered to “fix it,” but that just added another layer of delay. The main courses - the biryani was overcooked - the plain rice—under-cooked and dry at the same time. The Dal Makhni was so salty I am pretty sure it was made by someone whose only goal was to test someones sodium tolerance – if you are a person on beta-blockers, stay out of some dishes in the interest of your safety. But the real horror show was the noodles. I have seen greasy, but this was next-level. The oil was so excessive, It was a literal grease bath. Thank God! there is a medical store on the same road… I had to take two 40mg pantoprazole to survive the evening. My Saturday was completely shot as I spent the rest of the day staring at the ceiling. I get it. Restaurants are tough to run. Staff are under pressure. The politeness of the staff alone can’t make up for the fact that it felt like they were concerned with pushing out high ratings than delivering genuinely good dining experience. While I did give the staff a decent rating for being courteous, that’s about all they had going for them. For the quality of food, they serve here, what they charge is a daylight loot. Barbeque Nation has long since squandered its reputation, and at this point, it's hard to see how it could ever recover. I won’t be back at BBQ Nation anytime soon.
