Jose chettan's mess is my favorite go-to destinations in Madiwala area for Kerala food. I have been here on numerous occasions mostly for having breakfast The place will be packed mostly on weekends from the morning. There is nothing much to say about the ambiance as it is a mess and it will be most crowded. It situated near to the Maruthi Nagar main road and parking can be a mess for 4 wheelers. The mess has got some space outside to park your 2 wheelers. It is advisable to go there on foot if you don't have a two-wheeler in Bangalore.
They offer homely made Kerala food. Appam and Beef curry are my personal favorites here. I used to order this combo in most of my visits. Appam is very soft and the beef roast is simply amazing. The other main course curries which I personally suggest are (1) Veg Stew (2) Egg roast. Both are equally scrumptious and it goes perfectly with appam. Besides Appam, I 've also tried dosa and chicken biriyani in one of my visits. Both were equally good. The quantity of the biriyani was ample and even the price was reasonable.
Service is good and fast. You don't need to wait much to get our order on your table and above all rate is reasonable. For 2 persons the total bill may come around 110-120 including 2 glasses of coffee/tea for breakfast.
My Personal Favourites:
Appam/Beef Roast
Appam/Egg Roast or Veg Stew
Chicken Biriyani
Jose chettan's mess will be always one of my favorite destinations in Bangalore for Kerala food. I would definitely visit this place again whenever I get a chance to visit...

I recently visited this place and had an extremely disappointing experience. The service was the worst I've encountered, with staff being unresponsive and inattentive. The food was equally poor, lacking in both quality and taste. Overall, it was a frustrating and unsatisfying visit, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Jose Mess in the BTM, Madiwala, and SG Palaya area seems to have a strong following, but my recent visit left me underwhelmed. The porotta with beef roast and beef curry were average at best. The porotta, while visually appealing, lacked the expected taste. The beef curry was decent but didn't have a standout flavor.
We also tried the appam, which was just okay and failed to impress. The tea was good but not exceptional.
One major drawback of Jose Mess is the lack of parking, making it inconvenient for customers. Additionally, the restaurant is often overcrowded, which affects the overall dining experience. It seems that the Malayali population in this area may have compromised and settled for Jose Mess due to the lack of better Kerala restaurants nearby.
Overall, Jose Mess in BTM, Madiwala, and SG Palaya is overrated and does not live up to its reputation. If you're looking for authentic Kerala cuisine, you might want to explore other options...
