If you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy Bangalore’s beautiful monsoon weather, Kana by Coffee Mechanics is just perfect. The café is split across two levels—the ground floor is a lovely open-air space, ideal for soaking in the fresh air, while the upstairs area is enclosed and cozy if you prefer to stay indoors.
My friends and I dropped by for breakfast around 9:30 AM, and we ended up loving everything about our visit. Here’s what we tried:
Drinks:
Matcha Cream Latte (10/10!)—I had mine without sugar, and it was just perfect. Smooth, creamy, and comforting.
Hot Chocolate—Rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness.
Cappuccino—Delicious and well-balanced, with that classic coffee aroma.
Spirulina Sea Salt Lemon Soda—This was such a fun surprise! The citrusy flavor was super refreshing, and the beautiful blue color made it even more enjoyable.
Breakfast Dishes:
Sourdough Cream Cheese Sandwich—The bread was fresh and packed with perfectly sautéed and seasoned veggies. So satisfying!
Vegan Potato Rosti—Loved the hint of hot sauce and the way the veggies complemented the crispy rosti.
Banana Bread—Absolutely delightful. Moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness.
Kana Granola Bowl—Yummy and wholesome, perfect for a healthy start.
Pumpkin Butter Toast—Served on soft brioche, this was a bit on the sweeter side but still delicious and nutritious. It’s a great quick snack if you’re in a hurry.
Every dish tasted fresh and flavorful—you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The staff were friendly and attentive.
There’s even a brick oven pizza station, which I’m definitely coming back to try next time! And of course, the coffee here is the star of the show. You can pick from single estate beans, try classics like cortado or Vietnamese iced coffee, or go for something unique like the Millet Jaggery Latte (served cold) or the Apple Pie Latte (served hot).
Overall, Kana by Coffee Mechanics is a must-visit if you love great coffee, inventive food, and a...
Read moreReviews can really be deceiving at times. Visited the place with very high expectations basis the reviews on social networks. There are 2 levels of seating, one outdoor and another on the first floor, an indoor seating. The parking has to be at the main road in front of the outlet. We got a bit excited to see few different variety of dishes on the menu but to our disappointment, all these were breakfast items. We asked for some help with the cold coffee to see what was fast moving and was suggested to try the litchi coffee. Reluctant but thought of going by the suggestion by the staff. We ordered a cold chocolate and a garlic bread. The litchi coffee turned out to be a big disaster. The taste was a bit weird with absolutely no taste of coffee. The cold chocolate was alright. To our surprise, the garlic bread turned up in the form of a pizza, Margarita pizza to be precise with caramelized onion on the top. We did not enjoy the 2 drinks but decided to go for another, the Sinful Brownie coffee shake. The brownie shake turned out to be good, thankfully. The seasoning and oregano was provided along with the garlic bread. As it was a pizza, requested for a Red chilli sauce (Tabasco) & was provided with a house made sauce instead which was pretty spicy, tasted good. (Were charged ₹50/- + tax for the same 😔). The pizza was a normal pan pizza which was not that great. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Torte and it was good. So, 2/6 was the final score. The service though looked fine, but the staff cannot understand something as simple as a spoon that I had to hold one to ask for another. On the contrary another staff member (taking orders) was putting an accent and misled us to order a couple of items which was...
Read moreI had been to Kana a year and half ago and loved the Cilbir so much that I wanted to go again. So much so that I even convinced my friend to go, despite the fact that he did not have a great experience the last time he went.
Unfortunately for both, the food was not at all good. The Cilbir was too oily, the eggs in them overcooke. The Potato Rosti, such a beautiful dish was completely ruined. It felt like we had been served a leftover. It felt, looked and tasted like it had been cooked multiple times and left to dry on the pan before it was served to us. I had to fight to cut it! The scrambled eggs on my friend's plate looked very dry and sad. The only thing that was good was the Arugula leaves which looked very fresh, and the coffee (of which I had two cups just to wash down the oil)! . I couldn't get the oil and after taste out of my mouth the whole day.
We had a young server, who was very nice but completely constrained by the rules of the establishment. My friend asked for an omelette instead of the scrambled eggs and even offered to pay extra if needed. But the server flatly refused! We asked him to go and check with the Chefs again and he went reluctantly went only to come back and say that they will not do it. It was unbelievable. So, he ended up with a dry, sad looking scrambled egg which he never wanted.
So disappointed. The ambience alone cannot make one go back there. And I was actually rooting...
