Janmashtami Treat Being devotees of Lord Krishna, we visited the Iskcon temple during Janmashtami. Now it turned out that the Higher Taste restaurant is hosting a Janmashtami festival. The buffet has many dishes made of curd and milk & many items are named after Lord Krishna’s life. Like the Devanagari ka shorba which is a mildly spiced soup. The frequency of the rains has made a drop in temperature. So we loved mixed vegetable bajjis, crisp & hot. Mathura samosa is small, but these small bites are delightful. My co-diner felt Vasudev vada made for another interesting appetizer. This is a Sabhudana vada, much loved for its crispness. Sabhudana Thalipeeth in the live counter caught lot of attention. It’s tasty & also because so many households fast during this festival. A must try is the Dahi gujiya because of the urad dal, thick curd and tamarind combo. The starters section itself has a generous spread. Yet, moving on we headed to the main course. Aloo aur naspati ki subzi makes for a nice side dish along with rotis as much as Raval ki bhajji. Many diners opted for the Kunj Bihari kofta, which are soft koftas in thick greens gravy. Lovely, you can eat it by itself. The dahi in the gatte makes the dahi gatte so different. Kichadi is bhog, my co-diner explained. So the barsana ki Kichadi was welcoming. An all time favourite is the Gauranga potato. And why not, considering this bake packs in potatoes, herbs and butter. There are also regulars like the akki roti and nei pappu. Even the home style tomato rasam is comforting. Same can be said of simple dishes like pudhina shavige. Don’t miss the dessert especially the unniappam or sweet rice fritters which is great. A dollop of shakkarkand halwa is heavenly. Particular mention of the thick Kheer. When you make it so thick, the sugar content is a compromise sometimes. But here it’s all blended so beautifully. In all, this food festival has a wonderful spread. The restaurant has made every effort to give the feel of the festival. Dahi handis and colourful veils adorn the place. The floral doorway gives a welcoming feel. Kavitha

I ordered three items today via Swiggy - Wheat rusk, walnut banana cake slice, coconut biscuit. I would like to bring the following concerns to the notice of the Higher taste team. 1. Labelling - The labelling of ingredients is not as per FSSAI guidelines. "The food regulator has approved an amendment to the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, for this. It mandates display of information regarding salt, total sugar and saturated fat in a bold and relatively big font on ..." Read more at: https://www.deccanherald.com/opinion/editorial/bolder-food-labelling-is-good-for-health-3122733 There are no clear indicators of the nutrition values for standard serving size. I am surprised to see that a food outlet that is associated with ISKON uses refined flour, hydrogenated vegetable oil that are not healthy ingredients. 2. Misleading name - "Wheat Rusk" - I had presumed that Wheat rusk will have some percentage of Wheat flour - atta in it. But the ingredient used in Maida - refined wheat flour. The Swiggy listing also didn't mention anything about the ingredient in the menu. I hope the team takes a serious note of the above pointers. Customers are now becoming more aware and reading nutritional labels and it is your responsibility to ensure the correct information is put on your labelling.

"Higher Taste Restaurant offers a divine culinary journey through the realms of Satvik cuisine. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquility and purity, setting the stage for a truly enlightening dining experience. The menu, meticulously crafted with reverence for ancient dietary principles, boasts a tantalizing array of dishes that are as nourishing for the soul as they are for the body. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, showcasing the natural goodness of wholesome ingredients sourced with care and dedication. From hearty grains and legumes to vibrant fruits and vegetables, every dish at Higher Taste Restaurant is a testament to the artistry of Satvik cooking. The absence of onions, garlic, and other pungent ingredients allows the true essence of each flavor to shine, creating a harmonious balance that leaves you feeling deeply satisfied. But it's not just about the food – it's about the entire experience. The serene ambiance, attentive service, and peaceful surroundings create a sanctuary where you can truly nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or simply seeking a moment of culinary enlightenment, Higher Taste Restaurant offers a divine dining experience that transcends the ordinary and leaves you uplifted and inspired."

It all started with reading reviews of this restaurant & it took one year to visiit the place due to lockdown.

Last Monday has i started for lunch had this doubt back of my mind, is it really worth going to the other end of the city for a meal based on reviews. Then as i entered the place, it was so warm & welcoming with a soothing ambience, background music of Krishna's love flowing.

As I started dining realized it was one of the finest choice have made realted to food, hygenic taste rich serving filled with love with a specific interesting menu.

We ordered pizza, bakri roti, roti, papadi chaat, afgani biryani, paneer tandoori, kofta, tender coconut pasasam, icecream and was not ready to stop it was like total indulging in food, wherein the staff was kind enough to suggest it may get too much so can check and order. The dishes were so yummy especially the tender coconut pasasam literally put us into food trance, even the paneer quality, papadi chaat is awesome. Would have preferred softer koftas but then everything was so amazing looking for more perfection would have been unfair on our part😀 Price range was also worth the quality of dishes prepared with pure ghee & the portion served.

Me & family enjoyed, the icing was the service part, Mr Naveen G Manager checking on guests & Mr. Rakesh who served our table & the other couldn't ask the name were amazing. Thank you so much all of you, including the chefs for making our dining so memorable & lovable. So my experience with this place has been awesome making me write a big review from heart and recommend to my friends who are looking for a place of quality food prepared with trust & love.,Which makes us feel lighter even after eating. Looking forward to...

With more than a few disappointments, this would be a place not recommended for a good food experience. It's commendable that all the food is satvik, without onion and garlic. However, had they maintained a few things to improve the dining experience, this would have been better place.

Firstly, i had reserved the place via a restaurant partner online for which I got a confirmation. However, at the restaurant they had no ioata of any reservation details. I was just told that the online reservation just accepts the request regardless. Pathetic.

Secondly, the website has a menu that boasts impressive variety of offerings. Reality was, they didn't even ala carte and just had a buffet. Nowhere on the website did they have information on this. A very big disappointment.

The options on the buffet for lunch were decent for a person who just needs food. A good taste and quality was far away. Chat was not good, breads were dry, curries were okay, rice was dried out, overall the food was very mediocre or even lesser. Dessert offerings were decent for a buffet though.

The price to be paid per place was no where worth the food or experience. I would not recommended this place in the condition that it is. Definately not buffet. There are a 100 place that offer better buffet with Jain option and a 1000 other place with better normal buffet for a letter price and bettery dining experience. 2 stars are for an effort to offer food with no onion or garlic with such variety.

I hope the management takes note and improve the place it...
