We recently moved to Bangalore from Hyderabad and were on the lookout for a nice cafe serving great English breakfast as my son was missing his fav cafe and bfast in Hyderabad. We looked up Google for English bfast and came upon Tuckshop cafe. In fact my son was very sure he wouldn’t find a place as good as his fav cafe in Hyderabad. But this place didn’t disappoint at all. They have a simple seamless way of ordering on the table through scan and paying at the counter. After which the chef weaves his magic to create the fresh yummy food with the right taste, spice and texture. We tried English breakfast, sausage cheese omelette and their chai and shakes. Everything was perfect. In fact was really surprised with the quality and taste of their Ginger tea, so had to order another one 🙂. It has quickly become our favourite hangout cafe - also coz you can read your books while waiting for the food. The ambience of the cafe is simple but hygienic with some music playing in the background. The quantity and price for food is great as well- for the quality of food they offer, their price point is really reasonable. It’s not one of these fancy, gimmicky, overhyped cafes in Bangalore but really does justice to its food. We also ended up trying their lunch menu for pickup and home delivery for dinner. Both were delicious. Although we are a bit far for their delivery, the owner made sure he personally delivered the order. Looking forward to visiting this every weekend with my son for his fix of English bfast and introducing the cafe to my friends.
I would say it’s a really underrated cafe which needs to be discovered by a lot more people. All the best to the owners and the staff...
Read moreDrove 6km on a Sunday morning to get disappointed.
Starting with the location: the place is situated in a local market and the environment is super noisy
Ambience : as evident, Bangalore is a hot place, and there is no AC in the premises. I was expecting the place to be clean, but it was badly littered, with only one other table occupied and other two dirty. Had ketchup sachets, napkins on the floor.
Service : they took order and asked us to wait 15 mins. We ordered the English breakfast and one omelette and a cold coffee. Took about 25 mins to serve the food which felt too high for such a simple menu.
Food : Oh shooot. I drove 6km as I didn't want to have a cold omlette. The sunny side up was cold, the breads were cold, mashed potato were cold. The omlettee was like lukewarm. But still COLD!!!
On requesting politely to the server there that the food is cold, he argued three reasons for why is it expected He was cooking it sequentially. NOT MY PROBLEM. And who asked him to serve together!! He mentioned that "it is bit cold in bangalore" and there was "fan". Yes, cold when there has been a draught for weeks in bangalore in April end!! Lastly, he stupidly touched my food with his bare fingers 🤮 and said it is quite warm!!! And now he expected me to eat that food.
Overall ; I wanted to give a shout-out to the local not so glamorous shops serving good food at honest prices. Definitely...
