3rd review:In the latest visit the service by the staff was excellent. No background music. I’m upgrading my grading again due to this.
2nd review: my Latest Review Updated due to Poor customer service at service section which I appreciated in my previous review (available below the new one)
After a long journey, we visited Zataar restaurant around 10:30 PM on 7th September 2024. We found a spot where the background music was less intrusive (they tend to play loud music, which I don’t particularly enjoy). The ambiance was fine, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired.
We initially ordered the Zataar Special Biriyani and Shawarma, but the Shawarma was unavailable. I asked for a couple of minutes to decide on another dish, and the server left. However, he didn’t return for over 10 minutes, forcing us to call another staff member to place our order—Biriyani, BBQ Chicken, and Kulcha.
The BBQ Chicken arrived first and was delicious—juicy, spicy, and full of flavor. However, the wait for the other items became frustrating. After 10, 15, and eventually 20 minutes, we still hadn’t received the rest of the order. Upon reminding them, we were informed that the Mutton Biriyani takes 35 minutes to prepare. It finally arrived at around 11:20PM. The biriyani was tasty, but the long wait affected our overall enjoyment.
What was even more disappointing was the delay with the Kulcha. My son had to wait for his meal for an excessive amount of time, and it only arrived after several reminders and requests.
While the food quality is undeniably good, the service seriously needs improvement. The delays and lack of responsiveness from the staff greatly impacted what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. It’s a shame, as the food has great potential, but the poor service diminishes the overall experience.
My Old Review
The Zaatar old Madras road, I visited had a stunning interior that was richly decorated with intricate patterns, and beautiful lighting. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating a cozy and intimate dining experience.
The menu offered a variety of Arabic dishes, including hummus, shawarma, biriyanis and kebabs. We ordered Chicken lolipop, peper grill chicken, chicken Lahori, Garlic naan, butter kulcha and a water melon juice. While the food was certainly above average, it did not quite reach the level of exceptional. The flavors were good, but not outstanding except Chicken lolipop. The peper Grill chicken was burnt little more.
Despite the slightly lackluster food, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, always willing to answer questions and provide recommendations. The ambiance is little noisy due the high volume of BGM.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for the excellent ambiance and attentive service. While the food may not be outstanding, it is still enjoyable, and the beautiful interior makes for a memorable...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to a local restaurant, I felt that a three-star rating best described my experience. The food left something to be desired, but the ambience and service were commendable. The standout feature was undoubtedly the restaurant's well-crafted ambience and attentive service. The interior was tastefully designed, creating a comfortable and sophisticated atmosphere that greatly contributed to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The service staff were attentive and accommodating, adding a positive note to the meal.
In terms of the culinary offerings, there were both hits and misses. Unfortunately, the Chicken Afghani was marred by an overwhelming saltiness that overshadowed its potential. The Pot noodles also fell short of expectations, lacking the expected flavor profile. On the other hand, the Honey Chili Potato dish was acceptable, and the Chicken Biryani stood out as one of the more enjoyable items of the night. The Biryani featured well-cooked rice and tender chicken, offering a satisfying blend of flavors that was lacking in earlier dishes. The Mongo Milkshake was satisfactory, although not exceptional.
Considering the overall experience, the bill of 1500 units of currency for a party of three seemed reasonable. In summary, the restaurant showcased strengths in its ambience and service, but there is room for improvement in terms of consistency and flavor in the dishes. With some refinements in the culinary offerings, the restaurant could potentially elevate itself to a higher rating alongside its already appealing...
Read moreAs we settled into our seats, surrounded by an eclectic mix of decor that reflected the diverse cuisines on offer, anticipation bubbled within me. The menu sprawled before us, a treasure trove of flavors waiting to be discovered. With dishes ranging from Indian curries to Italian pastas, from Japanese sushi to Mexican tacos, we were spoiled for choice.
To kick off our gastronomic adventure, we decided to start with an assortment of appetizers, each representing a different culinary tradition. The crispy spring rolls, filled with savory vegetables and served with a tangy dipping sauce, transported us to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, the bruschetta, topped with ripe tomatoes, fragrant basil, and drizzled with olive oil, offered a taste of the Mediterranean sun.
As we moved on to the main course, our taste buds continued to be tantalized by the rich tapestry of flavors. I opted for a classic Indian dish, butter chicken, velvety smooth and infused with the warmth of spices. Across the table, my companion savored a hearty serving of creamy fettuccine Alfredo, perfectly cooked and generously garnished with Parmesan cheese.
Despite our growing fullness, we couldn't resist indulging in a dessert finale. A slice of decadent tiramisu beckoned to us from the menu, its layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream promising a sweet conclusion to our meal. And indeed, with each spoonful, we were transported to the streets of Rome, savoring the timeless...
