I stumbled upon this cafe in Sector 22 thanks to an Instagram reel, and I'm really glad I checked it out. The place has a modern vibe but with a cool Indian twist. When you walk in, you see a mix of stylish wooden furniture, bright and comfy seats, and lots of plants that make the place feel fresh and inviting. The walls are decorated with terracotta pots and modern art, and there are these neat arches that add a lot of charm.
What makes this cafe stand out is its focus on Indian flavors. They have chaat, desi fritters, Maggi, Indo-Chinese dishes, and a variety of chai, which is pretty unique for a cafe that would typically serve more continental food.
I went there on a Friday evening, and it was pretty empty since it’s a new place, so I easily got my choice of seat. I sat down and found some fun games on the table like jumbled words and crossword puzzles, which was a nice way to pass the time while waiting for my order or sipping on their chai.
Scanning the menu, I found one of their specialties: the bun tikki. It came with a side of fries, which was a nice touch. I decided to try it, and it came in beautiful crockery with a creative newspaper cutting underneath. The bun tikki was tasty and simple, though I found it a bit light on spices and chutneys. I asked for some extra chutney, and they brought it which made it even better. The service here is quick and very efficient and looks like they actually care about your requests or needs.
Overall, if you are into unique Indian-style seating with street food vibes in a cafe setting, this is the place to go. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to trying more items from their menu...
Read moreWe ordered cigar roll which were excellent but not as hot and crispy as they should have been, pav baji was good, dry chilly paneer was average with too high salt content. The place is nice to hang out with your friends... Service is good... Tea is excellent but sitting is too close that you can't hold your conversation without being loudly and clearly audible to the table next to you... The experience could have been better if they had focused on a little privacy and comfort of the customers. Anyway I experienced fish market experience. Even the most crowded restaurants aren't that loud to ears. Can be improved if space issue could be addressed. Overall above than average rating to it. For foodies it's an excellent place but it's not for those who need some quality time with friends... But if you seek some entertainment by hearing others chit-chat, maybe you can enjoy. I got headache as it was too...
Read moreWe visited Katliwala on 5th May 2025 along with our friends, reuniting after 25 years. We had chosen your place to make this special meeting memorable, but unfortunately, the experience with the food quality was disappointing.
We ordered several items, but most did not meet expectations:
The samosas had a bad smell, and the paneer filling seemed stale.
The idlis were very hard and not fresh.
The uttapam was below standard in both texture and taste.
The tea was not up to mark.
The dosa and sambar were average and lacked the authentic taste we were hoping for.
Considering the prices, we expected better quality and service. We request you to kindly look into the matter and take necessary steps to improve the food quality so future guests have a...
