This cafe has been on my list for a really long time now and I thought what's a better occasion than my birthday. So we went there on the 4th of July to have a birthday lunch (extra blessings for you if you count the number of times I write birthdays). Anyways, it's a pretty, not so little cafe tucked in sec 26. It has that white and blue decor which you can find at a lot of places nowadays, but definitely aesthetic. It's a good place to get lots of pictures clicked. They have plants and lamps and pretty chairs for your background. Coming to the important part, birthday lunch- *Trio of Traditional Sourdough Crostini (475rs) Sounds fancy, right? It was. It was definitely fancy. If you are somebody who has never had this fancy dish, let me tell you what it was. There were three bread pieces with different toppings. One had spring pea and asparagus (mind you, peas, just boiled peas) , another one had cheese, olive and chime and the third one had tamotoes, basil and chilli bruschetta. For somebody like me who didn't know what it is and definitely doesn't have such refined taste buds this was a questionable dish. None of us were fans of this dish and won't even recommend it. *Peppery Alfredo (695+165 for vegetables) We ordered linguini tossed in creamy parmesan Alfredo sauce. This tasted good but as my weird palate friend said " it was nothing special". We have had better pasta I guess. But on its own it was fine only. You might enjoy it. *Asian Bowl (825rs) This was something new for us. We decided not to go for pizzas or burgers but try something new. So we ordered this bowl. It had jasmine rice with all the fancy ingredients like avocado, mushroom, tofu, pickled cucumber, edamame, gochujang etc etc.. we have mixed reviews about this. One of us didn't like it at all, she felt that none of these ingredients went with each other and the rest of us felt that it was fine. I mean all the ingredients on their own tasted really good, I absolutely loved the mushroom and the sauce and the tofu. It was a new dish so we might not be aware of the authentic taste but we found it to be fine. Might not try it again though. *Tiramisu The best part of the lunch was this tiramisu for me. They serve their tiramisu with a bunch of other things like coffee macaroons, coffee ice cream, bombolini, palmier etc. It was light and really tasty. All of us loved it and the other tiny desserts that they served with it. They were also kind enough to put candles on it for me to blow as it was my BIRTHDAY. *Vietnamese coffee All three of us had Vietnamese coffee and it was also okayish. I have had better coffee so not a fan. *The service was amazing. Our server ( I don't remember the name now, Anit may be) was really attentive. He was kind enough to serve us our food and was really attentive. *Another catch is the beautiful chef. My friend thinks that there is nothing better than a chef who can speak Italian. So if you are into that ,you have another reason to go. *Do I recommend it? Yes, sure. Go, try fancy food and see for yourself if you want to go there again..it's definitely pretty and it definitely looks prettier in the evening. It is definitely expensive though. We...
Read moreLooking for an upscale dining option which serves a plethora of lovely dishes? Guess what, Olive cafe and bar has made its way to the city beautiful and has an amazing ambiance to it. Located in sector 26, I was here one fine day to explore some of their offerings and I had a fabulous experience.
Starting with their food, I gave a shot to their Non veg mezze platter, Chermoula Chicken Espetada, Grilled Sole Fish, Mushroom Risotto, Ginger salmon, Penne Arrabbiata and Classic chicken pizza.
Starting with their Non veg mezze platter, it had everything one could ask for. A perfect beginning to my lunch. The Hummus was as good as one could get. Pair it with some pita or lavash and you would go bonkers. The Lamb koftas were super juicy and were my favourite amongst the side dishes along with a refreshing bowl of muhammara. Must try.
Next up, the Chermoula Chicken Espetada was another nicely executed dish. The meat was tender and well marinated. I just felt that it was slightly more charred than my expectations. The team could look into that.
Up next, the sole fish was yummy. It was served with the classic French beurre blanc sauce, roasted baby potatoes and a nice, meaty chunk of grilled sole. Highly recommend stuff for people who love their seafood.
Since the sole was lip smacking, we thought to try out their signature Mushroom Risotto and Ginger salmon. Both of the dishes were beyond my expectations. The preparation of Salmon was a matter of great surprise for me as it had a nice fusion of edamame, sticky rice, teriyaki sauce and a nice portion of sesame seeds and cashew nuts.
On the other hand, the Risotto was again a rich affair in itself with a nice crunch of shiitake mushrooms cooked in white wine sauce and parmesan. No complaints whatsoever.
Besides, the Penne Arrabbiata was another classic dish which we had tried. It was decent overall, a slight bit of chilli for me but it was well balanced by a nice, generous slice of chicken pizza with juicy chicken chunks, onions and black olives. Delicious stuff.
To end things on a sweet note, I had their Christmas special Traditional pudding, Yule Log and Tiramisu. The pudding was very nicely seasoned with spices, dried fruits, orange, lemon zest and was further sweetened with brandy sauce. Exceptional taste. Secondly, the Yule log was another rich, chocolaty cake prepared with dark chocolate and served with a nice portion of raspberry ice cream. This one has to be in your list to order. Finally, their Tiramisu also was a stunning dessert. Classic Italian delicacy was served with fresh Macaron and in house Coffee ice cream. Simply scrumptious.
All in all, the service was top notch, the food quality was excellent and the vibe of the place guaranteed that I shall visit them super soon....
Read moreOlive Cafe and Bar is a charming spot, offering both indoor and outdoor spaces with a separate bar area. It's a popular destination for people looking to enjoy drinks and good appetizers in a relaxed setting. The courtyard and restaurant area is a buzzy dining space open all day with a cafe menu, featuring a full Greek architecture vibe.
Stepping into Olive Cafe and Bar feels like discovering a hidden oasis in the city. The whitewashed walls add a breezy, Mediterranean charm. With soft music and the gentle hum of conversation, it’s perfect for a romantic dinner.
We ordered their Mediterranean specialty, Turkish chicken and coriander pilaf, which had white and chickpeas cooked in chicken broth. Before it arrived, they surprised us with a small serving of cheese balls, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, setting up the dinner perfectly. The main dish was a delightful new experience with an authentic Turkish taste. The rice was soft, and the chicken was grilled in a lemon coriander paste, offering a broth-like flavor different from Indian dishes. The chickpeas in the rice were crispy, not soft like chole, which was something new! The garlic bread and hummus dip on the side were the cherry on top.We ended our meal with a dessert, Mango Baba Rum, which had a base flavor of rum and mango with strong spice notes – a true mind-blowing experience.
The light music, the enchanting ambiance, the water fountain, and the excellent service, where they constantly ask for your feedback and explain the food well, made the evening amazing.
I would highly recommend Olive Cafe and Bar to explore Mediterranean food. It has a classic elite Greek vibe with light romantic music in the background. The food and drinks are quite expensive, so be mindful of that, but the experience is worth it, and you...
