Utterly Disastrous Experience at Tulum Chandigarh

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. My recent visit to Tulum Chandigarh was nothing short of a complete and utter disappointment, leaving me with a bitter taste (literally and figuratively).

The ambiance was not "dark and minimalistic" – it was simply pitch black. I appreciate a dimly lit setting, but this was bordering on dangerous. I literally had to resort to using my phone flashlight just to decipher the menu. It felt less like a dining experience and more like navigating a poorly lit cave.

The service was equally appalling. "Poor" doesn't even begin to cover it. The staff were rude and inattentive. Our waiter practically took our order on the fly, not even allowing us a moment to reconsider. The menu was snatched away the second I uttered my choices. It felt rushed, dismissive, and incredibly unprofessional.

Then came the food, and this is where the real agony began. I ordered the Caper Fish Fillet, Pine Rose Berries, and Iconic Summer. Each item was a monumental letdown:

• The drinks were overwhelmingly sour and bore no resemblance to what I had anticipated. They were simply unpleasant and undrinkable. • The Caper Fish Fillet was an absolute joke. Bland doesn't even begin to describe it. The only flavour came from a haphazard smear of what tasted like raw, unroasted chilli on top. The accompanying "potato wedges" were clearly frozen, store-bought – the kind you can easily bake at home. For the exorbitant price of ₹895, the portion size was laughably small – a pathetic 2x2 inch square that looked like it was meant for a toddler. • Based on the sheer awfulness of the initial dishes, I immediately cancelled my pizza order. I wasn't willing to subject myself to any more culinary torture. The quantity of food for the price was insulting. Paying almost ₹900 for a minuscule, tasteless piece of fish and some frozen wedges is daylight robbery.

Adding to this already disastrous experience, the sitting conditions were absolutely atrocious. The chairs were literally falling apart, and despite this blatant issue, no one on the staff seemed to care or tend to it. I spent the entire duration of my miserable meal having to constantly adjust my seat every single minute, practically getting up and down just to maintain some semblance of stability. (Image attached clearly shows the state of the chair.)

I wholeheartedly DO NOT recommend Tulum Chandigarh based on my experience. While it might potentially offer a certain "vibe" for large groups looking to drink in the dark, anyone seeking a decent meal with acceptable service should steer clear. There are undoubtedly far superior options in Chandigarh that offer better food, service, and a more welcoming atmosphere. Save your money and your taste buds –...

Taste - 5/5 Portions - 4/5 Ambience - 5/5 Service- 5/5 Value for money - 4/5

A visually enticing, small & cozy place located on the rooftop of "The Toy" hotel serving delectable italian & mexican food.

The ambience is charming with bamboo work, clay potteries, bohemian prints & lush soothing greens. Vibe this alluring can make your days more beautiful and evenings more romantic.

Table reservation is highly recommended since it's packed on most of the days (thanks to the amazing ambience, delicious food & great serving staff)

The menu is restricted to their expertise. The prices are on a higher end, considering that the portions are not very applaudable.

Stone fired pizza - 5/5 Their sourdough wood fired pizzas are scrumptious. They are prepared fresh on order, seasoned with mouth watering ingredients and baked to perfection. I ordered peri peri chicken stone fired pizza which was beyond delicious. Must try.

Mushroom & caramelized onions taco - 5/5 Beautifully presented, baked taco shells are served at the table with all the veggies, fillings and sauces for you to assemble them with the quantities and layers you please.

Guacamole & chips - 4/5 Nachos served with a dip of tossed avocado, bell peppers and cherry tomatoes. The taste was good but was quite overpriced.

Old monk spiced hot chocolate with marshmallows - 5/5 The name says it all and the taste did total justice. The hot chocolate and marshmallows tasted indulgent. A strong taste of old monk towards the end made for a great twist to the regular...

I visited this café at night, and the experience was truly memorable. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere just felt right. The vibe was absolutely on point—chilled yet energetic, with just the right mix of nature and design. The setup had a raw, earthy charm with wooden tables placed under trees, and the cloudy weather that night made it even more perfect.

The lighting was low and warm, with small candles placed on some tables instead of regular lights. It added a very cozy and intimate touch to the whole space. The music was upbeat and had a club-like energy, but still blended well into the background, making the space feel alive without being overwhelming.

Now coming to the food—it was fantastic. Everything we ordered was rich in flavor, well-prepared, and served hot. You can tell they really focus on quality. The staff were equally impressive—polite, attentive, and quick with the service, which made the overall experience smooth and enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a place with great food, an amazing night-time vibe, and a staff that genuinely makes you feel welcomed, this café is definitely...

I’d like to share my experience “I had an exceptional dining experience at Tulum Restaurant! The rooftop setup was stunning, offering a breathtaking view of Chandigarh. The food was outstanding - the margarita pizza boasted a fresh and soft crust, while the stuffed conchiglioni was deliciously yummy. The interior was tastefully designed, and the lift access to the rooftop was a convenient touch. What truly stood out, however, was the excellent service provided by the staff - attentive, timely, and courteous. We didn't have to wait long for our food, making for a seamless and enjoyable brunch. The area of Tulum Restaurant was impeccably clean, making it a great place for friends' meetups, family brunch gatherings, and even kids' outings - it's a wonderfully kid-friendly spot! The ambiance was lively and vibrant, with a pleasant atmosphere that made our dining experience even more special. It was truly a great experience for me to be there, and I would highly recommend Tulum Restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Chandigarh.”
