Read moreI have always said that I believe in giving real and authentic reviews. We visited Chowman for a dine in dinner . The service was impeccable with waiters pampering us completely. Now about the food… we ordered crab soup that was good. A basket of chicken momos that were good and fresh. The only 2 things out of line were the chicken shanghai noodles that were served completely broken for maybe having been tossed around too harshly in the wok. And the General Tso Chicken in gravy that didn’t have any unique flavours except salt. There was a hint of star anise flavour.. but otherwise quite bland. The serve quantity was large. The last important point is that their chairs are highly - highly uncomfortable. They are sternly erect like classroom chairs 🪑 and moreover the cushion fixed on the seat is small so that when you sit the wooden edges of the seats hurt your bottom! Now that’s the 1st time I have experienced such a thing ! Why would any restaurant make the seating uncomfortable! On request we were obliged and moved to a sofa - chair table. And mind you ! The sofa was even more uncomfortable!!! With the padding hard as rocks and back rest coming forward from the top and one couldn’t just nestle into the sofa ! I was dying to just leave bcz I had had a long day at work. So sorry… I wouldn’t be able to neither dine in again nor order...
Read moreHello fellas !! So few weeks back I paid a visit to an outlet which is basically a glimpse of kolkata style food. Yes !! You heard that right !! I went to chowman - which is one of the most prominent franchise in kolkata that serves kolkata style Chinese food. The place is newly opened, very compact and has an aura which is basically composed on Chinese tradition (not precisely but close enough). Now moving on to the food part, I had chicken meatball soup, konjee fried chicken, kolkata style chilli chicken dry and in main course I had schezwan chicken with fried rice. Soup was refreshing and energizing, kolkata style chilli chicken dry could have been better - I found the pieces bit undercooked and raw, konjee chicken was a sheer delight. If we talk about main course then there is a lot of scope of improvement. The flavors didn't suited my buds to the core which a desi Chinese usually does. Fried rice felt undercooked too. Also, I find the place bit expensive as compare to the quality of food and the amount of portion they serve. Staff was welcoming and courteous though they need to do some homework when it comes to explaining the dish in brief.
My overall...
