We went to this cafe for their wood fired oven pizzas, but turns out they have a pretty extensive menu of sandwiches, burgers, pastas, and other generic European continental food. We ordered a Mexican bean burger with tempered expectations, but it turned out to be delicious. The burger patty was spicy, and it’s soft texture was complimented by the creamy avocado and crunchy corn chips. It came with a side of fries and salsa. We also got a mushroom pizza with blue cheese and caramelised onions. The crust on the pizza was charred, hence crisp, and all the toppings were super flavourful. We drizzled it with some Italian hot oil, which was served on the table among other condiments. The funkiness of the blue cheese was balanced with the sweetness of the caramelised onions; it’s not a pizza I would normally order, but I was glad I did. The service was prompt and the servers were friendly and competent. The music fit the theme and vibe of the restaurant, and was noticeably boppy without being so loud as to disrupt conversation. This restaurant is in the Defence Colony main market; the nearest metro station is Lajpat Nagar. You could reasonably walk from the metro station (it’s about 2kms), but unless you live in the area, an auto or cab might be preferably.

Definitely visit. In fact, avoid the crappy food and coffee at the Barista closeby, and try their two rocket salads instead. The pizzas aren't bad either, but I'm wary of being tempted by the salmon; if they can't handle chicken breast, they'll murder the salmon. Nice coffee though. They serve it strong in little cups. Pros: A nice menu with something for everyone, including some really nice salads. Service staff who are helpful, (mostly) cheery and effective. A minimal atmosphere with reasonable seating. Cons: cross the t's and dot the i's (day old bread for croutons (not fresh), Caesar dressing (is not mayo), use Canadian bacon if it's mentioned...), really slow kitchen, seating could be more comfortable (cushions would go a long way), handle breast carefully; it dries out quickly...

My husband and I visited this place on a quite Monday evening when we were the only ones in the cafe. We placed our order and asked if they do a bread basket like usual Italian restaurants, to which the staff replied Its an Italian restaurant not Indian. We were totally zapped to hear the response. Later when the gluten free pizza came, it was piping hot that literally burnt my tongue. What disturbed me the most was that when the staff realised , rather than checking or offering water they laughed and made fun of me amongst themselves, not realising how quite the cafe was to be heard around. In today’s time you rarely witness such behaviour and it’s quite demeaning. The only reason I’m giving 1 star is for the gluten free options available.

The staff and management are very friendly and our always happy to help.

The Lebanese Thin Crust pizza was amazing. It was really delicious.

The Arabiatta Pasta was not up to my liking. It was too spicy.

But still I would stick to 4 stars particularly because the management was very co operative and the pizza was delicious !

Next visit - Update : The Def Col market currently is facing serious issues with the authorities not permitting any commercial activity above the ground floor. So Amici's first and second floor is also locked and due to this, even the washroom isn't allowed to be used.

Also half of the things weren't available, the burger buns weren't available so we were given sandwiches instead. No fries were available so were given a small portion of salad.

Lebanese chicken tasted nice.

The Pizza was just ok. Could have been better though.

Amici is much better on a fully working day. So I can't rally blame them for the lack of services. Hoping things get...

The food and setting was good, but the ending of our pizza-experience in this restaurant was very awfull..

It was very noticeable that me and my partner were foreigners. And this is precisely why they gave us a bill that was 700 rupees higher than it should have been.

They added things that we did not order. When I mentioned this, they first acted like I did not look properly and that the bill was according to what we ordered. Then when I asked another customer (indian) in the restaurant to take a look and compare the bill with what we had.. He also said this was not correct..

Only then after they saw me showing it to the other customer, they looked at the bill again and said it was wrong...

Why you would scam foreigners like this when they come for the good food you have is beyond me.

It left us with a horrible taste...
