Bamboo Hut is easily accessible in Safdarjung Enclave. Located right behind HDFC Bank in B6 Block, the outlet sure does live up to its name in terms of the way it looks from the outside. With exterior walls decorated with bamboo, the restaurant is really inviting. Hailing from the north-eastern part of the country, Naga food is no stranger to me. I have been lucky enough to have had truly amazing Naga food over the years. With the narrow lanes of Humayunpur being the new hub of north-eastern cuisine, I have tried many places in the locality and I can finally say that Bamboo Hut by far is the best among them! We opted for the pork thali which comes with rice, dal, stir-fried vegetables, chutney, boiled leafy vegetables and the pork curry made with bamboo shoot. There are two types of rice one can choose from: the regular white rice and red rice. The dal was a little bland for my taste but the other things on the plate totally made up for it. The stir-fried vegetables were yum and the chutney was AMAZING. It was super fiery, just the way I like it. If you're not a big fan of raja mircha, please steer clear of it. The pork curry was smashing as well. The thali also comes with an ice tea which was truly a savior while we were gulping down all that fiery goodness. We also ordered a side of their dry fish chutney which was the star of our meal!! Again, super hot. I liked it so much, I packed it up and got it home so that I can have it with my dinner. The ambience inside was really warm and cosy and I love how they have a section where they have a proper Naga seating area. Also, don't forget to check out their daily specials. I am absolutely in love with this place and I cannot wait to go back and try more of what they have to offer. People living in the area, move over Hornbill. Bamboo Hut offers better Naga goodness: the quantity and quality is much better than the former ones. A big shout out to the team! This is a further edit to my review. I happened to be there a second time last week and to my disappointment, the pork was not cooked and was raw in places. This was the case not just in my pork thali but in my friend's plate as well. I'm taking away a .5 from my rating since serving slightly uncooked meat is clearly not okay.

This place is a hidden gem. It's a poignant representation of the paradoxical inverse correlation between location and quality of meals. The quality they offer is well beyond expectations. I am so glad that they restarted dine-in service here. As someone who prefers to dine-in rather than order food, this is pretty much the only place in my vicinity that I like to visit. While it's not the staple cuisine of my sub-culture's heritage, I prefer this over other restaurants primarily because it has the 3 key things I look for when dining out: 1. balanced meals with carbs, fibre, protein and judicious use of cooking fats 2. Authenticity of cuisine 3. Discretion and quietude Naga cuisine is generally hot, but that's something I prefer anyway. It's not an explosion of spices, just a lot of chilies. The decor is minimalist, the place is usually quiet and cosy, and the service is very courteous. Choice in cutlery and crockery is unique: it's either etched ceramic or wooden bowls, absolutely no plastic or melamine. The steel cutlery is of adequate quality - made of steel, simple but substantial and with adequate heft. I have seen worse cutlery in restaurants that charge twice as much. I have never had a single issue with food in over a year of dining and ordering from here. While I generally stick to ordering a Nagar thali, the appetizers are also quite delectable. The portions are rather generous. Overall, I can't recommend the place enough. It's truly a labour of love. If you live in Vasant Kunj and are open to new experiences in cuisine, I'd wholeheartedly recommend this place. It's advisable however to either use a cab/auto/2-wheeler to reach here. This is due to limited parking in Kishangarh in general. Or if you can forego a bit of laziness and comfort, take a walk to this place!

THE PLACE LOOKS COSY AND THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY. IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE TRYING OUT SOMETHING OF HOME AWAY FROM HOME . THE PLACE LOOKS SMALL FROM THE OUTSIDE BUT THE INSIDE WAS SPACIOUS ENOUGH . THERE ARE FEW THINGS WHICH I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM IMPROVE ON . THE PLACE SERVE MIX OF KOREAN AND NAGA DISH SO IT WOULD BE LOVELY TO SEE SOME FEW ITEMS ON DISPLAY LIKE ARTS, WALLPAPER, TRADITIONAL ITEMS DISPLAYED FROM BOTH BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T SEE ANY OF IT . THE STAFF DISAPPEAR WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO PAY THE BILL SO I WAS MADE TO WAIT .

Everything is degrading day by day

Edit after months: where do u even start! The moment Bamboo Hut left Safdarjung Enclave b6 market, they have lost their essence. The food I ordered today was so pathetic and so disgusting I couldn’t eat it. I’m so over it and I can’t even express my disappointment in this review. I’ll share some pictures for everyone to see. The chutney I had ordered they sent it in a small plastic bag and it was as if I’m ordering it for free. I paid ₹90 for that one chutney. And the meat? It was ₹400 and all I received was pork fats. No flavour, 2 pieces of bamboo shoot, and lots of oil. I took out the oil in a glass to post this review. All I can say is they have lost one faithful customer of more than 5 years. It’s pathetic. Maybe you need...
