I seriously hate this place, been there for dinner on 14th Feb , Firstly they kept up waiting for almost one hour, in respite of the fact that we made the booking half and hour before reaching this place on call and after reaching they told us to wait maximum for 15-20 mins. Secondly, they again kept us waiting for the food which we ordered for almost one hour again, even though we gave the order long ago when we were waiting for the table just to help both of us so that we can save precious time and use it optimally , but it was a bad idea I guess (sarcasm). These guys were really testing on our nerves, and there comes a point when the water came above the head and we can't take this anymore, so finally at last we decided to walked out with out having any food, just paid for the drinks that we had at the bar counter. Wouldn't recommend this place for a special evening to anyone , because they don't have enough manpower to attend the guest I guess, it was not at all overcrowded as the number of tables aren't much still I don't understand the reason for this kind of service , I mean seriously I haven't seen this kind of service anywhere till now. And the worst part even after we repeatedly reminding them about the order they still have the audacity to give an excuses and kept us more waiting by saying just 10 mins or just 2 more mins. They literally kept us in the dark, have they told us straight away in the very beginning that we can't accommodate you guys as we are super busy right now we would have totally understand and gone somewhere else but no they want us to waste our time there only. And there comes a funny part but, This place is run by just two beautiful ladies and one gentleman handling the whole property and managing everything by running here and there making a total chaos. Wouldn't be wrong by saying they were totally messed up. Although I heard a lot about their ambience, though it was well uptu the mark, but one can not go to a restaurant for just to have a look of the ambience and surroundings right? When the main purpose of going to a restaurant is not being served then whats the point of going there? Just...
Read moreI was excited to visit this restaurant after reading about the cuisine they offer. The rating also was pretty decent. However it all seems misleading now. To be fair, our drinks were good, entrees decent and main course just about ok (heavily overpriced for the quality). To give you an idea the chicken curry in a red wine sauce was below average and priced at INR 650. there was already an air of disappointment because the bathroom and entrance had a strong mold smell. There was mold around the AC, ants on our table and termite on the wall. We thought this looked like a place that used to be good and had no upkeep. We were the only guests in the restaurant and I suppose that speaks for itself. Based on this experience I would have given a 3 star but it all changed with the desert. We ordered an Apple pie with ice cream (priced at INR 495 so you get the context) and it was shockingly bad. I have eaten enough apple pies in my life to know what a decent one is and this was probably the worst ever. The crumb was terrible and it broke apart when being cut in a way that resembled a demolition site. I wish I had a photo. When we shared our disappointment with the staff (whose severe cold by this time was getting me worried) she did precious nothing. It was a mix of her attitude and the aloofness of seeming manager/owner who was sitting in the next room that irked us. We are certain to never revisit or recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless they change their management style, attitude and perhaps upgrade their chef team or then revisit...
Read moreBookmarked on Zomato, Chateau de Pondicherry was chosen as luncheon with a close friend. Frankly speaking, I always look for deals/discounts before dining out. Don't feel the need to pay more for the same experience. Surprisingly, found a budget-friendly deal on one of the platforms offering a 3-course meal with a soft beverage. We visited the place on a Friday afternoon, space was empty which firstly disappointed us but it's insta-worthy, and romantic ambiance caught our attention. The backyard is lush-green and giving a very nature dominant feel
Sampled one of their Guave based Mocktails, yummy thirst quencher. Mysore Bonda for starters and Puducherry Sambar Rice in large plates were my pick. Both the items were delicious but homely. I couldn't connect with the Chettinad and French amalgamation but overall, it was a hearty meal. For dessert, soft and comfy Chocolate cake was a perfect ending.
Chateau de Pondicherry is a gorgeous place, a mood swinger and can be a space shifter for anyone. It's a place to make memories and ponder on them...
