This small shop, located in a busy lane in the neighborhood of Kalkaji, is neither very well-maintained nor presentable. Owing to the lack of space in front of the counter, it is quite inconvenient to stand there and have your food too, especially when it is crowded. It does, however, have a variety of North Indian snacks, savouries, Chaat, sweets, ice creams and milkshakes to choose from.
The Onion Kachori, served with Aaloo subzi is quite nice - hot, slightly tangy and quite spicy. However, don't even try the Dahi Bhalla, especially if you don't like it spicy. The Imli chutney (tamarind sauce) that they use is loaded with crystalline sugar, which you can actually bite, and has no tangy flavour of Imli, whatsoever...it simply tasted like sugar water! It was gross, to say the least! I've neither had Dahi Bhalla worse than this ever nor ever had an Imli chutney made with sugar...it's usually made with jaggery! We simply threw it in the bin after a few disastrous bites! When I complained about it to the owner/manager, he graciously took the feedback, but neither offered a replacement with some other item, nor a refund! Instead, he asked of we would like to taste the Imli chutney prepared in the other half of the same shop! I was baffled to say the least - what kind of complaint resolution was that??!!! Also, did he mean that two separate counters on two opposite sides of the same shop prepare different chutneys??? Apparently, that's true! In different outlets of theirs, different people behind the different counters make different chutneys; each one makes it in his own style!!! This is what I was told by the owner/manager!!! I immediately asked if the recipe wasn't supposed to be standardized across all their outlets. However, I was told that it wasn't! Gosh, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! After that I swore that it would be the last time I would dare to eat Chaat at this place!!! I had to then hop into a nearby Pizza Hut outlet to change my taste and get rid of the disgusting taste of their awful Dahi Bhalla! What a waste of time, calories and money!
Apparently, their ice creams are supposed to be good...that's some saving grace, I guess! I didn't dare sample it, although my husband said it was good.
In terms of service, some of the staff members are very casual in their attitude and are lost in their own conversations with each other, and have to be repeatedly asked for something, before they finally decide to look at you and understand your request. This was particularly noticeable at the ice cream counter. Clearly, their customer service requires a lot of improvement!
Overall, it wasn't an enjoyable experience at all and I wouldn't want to go there again. If ever I do, I will stick to the Pyaaz Kachori, perhaps, and maybe try the Pav Bhaji. Nothing else! I'd rather go to a cleaner and more spacious place which provides good food and great...
Read moreYes Gopals has wide varieties of ice creams, sundaes, shakes. You name a flavour and you will find it here. Starting from simple flavours like vanilla, strawberry and chocolate to the most innovative flavours one can think about like charcoal, mint chocolate chip, tooti fruiti and rainbow flavour. They simply have the best flavours! I have been a fan of their classic mango shake since my childhood topped with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with nuts and a cherry. Their sundaes are just lip smacking! And guess what.. they have hot chocolate fudge and hot chocolate with brownie during winters. That is not the end. They also have jalebis, gulab jamun, kesar doodh. Nad those who aren't much a fan of sweets and go for snacks like pav bhaji, kachori, chowmein, chole bhature, etc. Now comes to the price. Yes it is quite reasonable. The only drawback is that they don't have any seating arrangement and the road is quite narrow so if you are planning to come here by car, you definitely have to bear the headache of parking it...
Read moreI have been a regular at this place since the past 10 years atleast, their chole bhature used to be the best in town and my whole joint family used to order from them as a Sunday ritual, they even catered for our personal functions but what compelled me to write a review here is their constantly degrading quality and attitude towards customers, though they have increased the price to 120 from 55 in 2015 their quality has gone south, what used to be savoury are bland taste less chole with no regard for hygiene, we had started to avoid this place but a change of plans led me to visit this place again on 26 July 2025 after having their chole bhature 2 of my family members are still recovering from food poisoning on informing the staff they were very rude and not open to feedback at all, what used to be a cherished household name will remain an...
