I visited this place today and to my surprise, Haldiram's has become the new free community hall where families come for looking prospective brides and grooms. You would see females in glittering and brightening clothes, gentlemen either busy in making the arrangements or oggling over these pretty women. You would see these people, excited and worried about a forthcoming relation, carelessly wandering all over the place with no masks. Covid protocols are at a complete toss and there is a very high potential for Haldiram's becoming a super spreader point under current circumstances.
Coming to my experience on food, I ordered a special masala dosa and believe me when I say, the only special thing about it was that it came in the shape of a dosa. Dosa paper was more brittle than a papad and there was no scope of eating it along with masala as it would break into multiple tiny pieces everytime I would try to take some masala in it. Masala itself was just boiled potatoes which weren't mashed properly and small onion pieces all around it. Sambhar was uncooked and of poor quality. Luckily, chutneys were of good taste. In totality, you are better off eating a dosa at any roadside shop or ever famous "Madras Cafe's" spread all over the city. It would save you a good 100 - 120 rupees as well and you can use them to have a nice dessert later on.
About the service provided by the outlet, management's entire focus is on the above mentioned bride and groom families. Their orders are given priority over individual customers which lead to high waiting times and hastenly cooked food.
Overall, being a regular customer of Haldiram's before pandemic period, I am highly disappointed in the way this store is operated in current circumstances. I understand the outlet's focus on these large families as they are generating good profit for them. But they are also creating high possibility of Halidram's becoming super covid carrier for the entire population of Delhi.
I would recommend to avoid going to this shop atleast until the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was a regular visitor to this outlet from Jan'10 to Nov'18 and thereafter stopped visiting due to closure of front entry gate from Bahubali Enclave side on DDA's orders. Outlet is neat and clean, good for family gatherings but food prices are steep considering quantity on offer. It offer pure veg food but self-service is an issue because on rush days in peak hours, it's impossible first to queue up for payment/food coupons and then wait for preparation of food and sometimes waiting time is more than 30-45 minutes. Problem is u can't sit and order. They've to take cue from Bikaner Dilshad Garden outlet which serve food to its customers right on their table after receiving payment and customer need not queue up in lines for food after making payment. In peak hours, staff of Haldiram outlet often behave unprofessionally rather rudely with customers which is extremely unfortunate but the problem is that today Haldiram has earned a name for themselves whether it's sweets, namkeen, bakery items, continental food and fast food so therefore they don't care for customers because u believe me that today each Haldiram outlet is milking money not just in lakhs but in crores. I hope after Swiggy, this mindset will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaldiram is now known for steep rise in prices in comparison with its peers such as Hira. In haldiram u have serve yourself but in Hira you are been catered and at last you get the bill. Prices are as inflated as it gets.. such as chhole bhature priced at around 190 rs or say 200 incl. of gst. Whereas in hira you have to spend around 130 rs to get the same with less oily chhole and more tastier bhature. Pastry at hira is for 40 rs nd in haldiram its around 80-90 rs dont know why. 500 gm pineapple cake at Hira is for rs 300 with live cake counter whereas in haldiram u need to spend more than 500 rs standing in a queue at invoice counter then at the cake pastry counter then u have to go and fetch the cake and bring it on the table. So all in all .. Hira is becoming a more suitable alternative to haldiram when it comes to taste rates service etc. One thing I forgot... Haldiram gave you the least quantity of food in a plate and if you try to say that pour more chhole sabzi etc then the staff will quarrel with you abt the weight of chhole dal makhni.. worst n worst of experience. My dal makhni chawala i have to eat...
