Was set to leave a positive review as had some strong points, but after getting food poisoning and having the last few days of my vacation spoiled, what am I supposed to do? I toyed with the idea of putting this down to experience and not leaving a bad review as I don’t like to affect people’s business. But they affected my ‘business’ so to speak so want to share with the establishment my dismay.

Ordered an iced oat latte which stated on menu was with dates and also a hazelnut flavouring. Having ordered I immediately then asked staff that there be no ice as I was wary of ice perhaps not being suitable to foreigners if not filtered etc. I Was told okay and that the message would be passed to kitchen.

Drink arrived and it was very very sweet. Maybe a bit too much for my personal taste but that is just my own preference. Wasn’t sure where the dates were either but was informed very were ground into the drink. Bit dubious about the answer there, as blending dates would leave parts of the skin in the drink, but the drink was smooth with zero flecks! Still, I wasn’t going to delve into that. I assumed only they were using a date purée and maybe didn’t want to say so!?

I drank the drink and thought little of it other than it was very sweet as mentioned, and so bought a plain espresso to counter the sweetness.

Well, later that night, came the shivers, the feeling of nausea all night long (never slept) and the “two bob bits”.

Then it dawned on me… the latte drink that I asked for no ice in, had been very very cold when it arrived. Even if the cold oat milk drink had been poured onto the espresso, the drink would never have been as chilled as it was. I have made similar drinks at home so know how it tastes both with and without ice. It definitely had ice used and it was made in a blender so all the ice had been crushed and dissipated so I hadn’t known it was there. Although I should have known as it had been so cold to drink. I wasn’t thinking I guess.

I had nothing else to eat out that day and this was the only time I ate/drank out the whole time I had been in India on vacation. The rest of the time I had eaten trusted home cooked meals from the mother in law.

I am sure locals will enjoy this place. And the espresso on its own was an absolute belter which I enjoyed. But sorry, when I get food poisoned after requesting no ice, and perhaps hoodwinked about how dates are added, I can’t bring myself to give anything more than...
