I followed the Google maps to find this small hidden shop inside the residential area of Jungpura, Hawkers House also popularity known as Novelty store. On the outside it looks like a grocery store, but a narrow entrance leads you into a small yet decent cafe that serves one of the best sandwiches and cold coffee in Delhi. Located deep inside the Jungpura residential colony this shop is right on the edge of Bhogal about 500 meters from Mathura Road. And about one and a half kilometres from the nizammudin railway station. We went in there and ordered ourselves a vegetarian grilled sandwich and a chicken sandwich along with cold coffees. It took them just 5 minutes to serve us the excellent preparation from their see it all kitchen. I had the chicken sandwich which was awesome and the cold coffee is delightful. It's a must visit for sandwich and cold coffee and on my next visit I'll try the omelette that they make, coz it was...
Read moreThis is the place for sandwiches, if you ve not had sandwiches at Novely you re surely missing out. They are completely like the sandwiches made at home and they are absolutely delicious. The Tuna Sandwich is great and the veg options are also delecious. Try the veg cheese sandwich or just a cheese sandwich and the green chutney with the sandwiches mixed with ketchup is just an awesome combination. The store has been there for ages and is run with care. The seating is limited and not fancy. Bar stools facing a counter but the taste is to die for and makes it all good. It a a place for a quick bite or order them for home. The seating though minimal is not uncomfortable, you might rub shoulders with a person sitting next to you but with sandwiches like that you would not mind. Also, the cold coffee is just the perfect companion with the sandwiches. And hygeine is...
Read moreLiving at Jangpura Extension for many years now, I never knew about this place until one friend visiting from outside Delhi searched a few eating options on Google and stumbled upon this place. Hidden behind a General Store facade, it seems to be a place of old times - established around the 1950s. It looked like a place of competition/coaching times, where after monotonous routine or long studies one can go and munch upon some quick sandwich, pastry, tea, coffee, cold coffee. I am sure many people living in this area since childhood may be having memories attached to this place. Yet to taste their food offerings as I wasn't hungry when I first went there. Tried carrot cake which was awesome and dip tea. There is a long common bar-like table with chairs. They also have a small outside sitting area. Service is quick. I wish I knew it earlier. Must...
