Edit(to the lovely response)
Dear Aangan Team,
Thank you for your colorful and somewhat theatrical response. While I appreciate the apology, it doesn’t quite make up for the disaster that was my Mother’s Day experience at your restaurant.
It’s reassuring to know that you usually strive for prompt service, though clearly, that wasn’t the case on our visit. Comparing your service to a desert might have been amusing if it wasn’t so accurate. And as for the food reaching the "lofty heights of mediocrity," that's not exactly a badge of honor.
Your attempt at humor is noted, but what I really wanted was a good meal and decent service, not a comedy routine. I hope future patrons don’t have to play “culinary Russian roulette” at Aangan.
Thanks for acknowledging the epic failure of our visit. If I ever decide to return, I’ll be sure to lower my expectations accordingly. . . . . . Prepare yourself for a culinary rollercoaster of disappointment at Aangan. My recent visit on Mother's Day was nothing short of a nightmare.
From the moment we were seated, it was abundantly clear that the staff had no concept of hospitality. Despite numerous requests for water and menus, we were left with neither in sight. And when they finally remembered our existence, it was to grace us with the absurdity of watermelon juice amidst our main courses after asking for it multiple times.
But the horror didn't stop there. Oh no. One of our starters had the audacity to arrive fashionably late, long after we had surrendered our plates in defeat. The servers, if you can even call them that, seemed to be operating on a different plane of existence, devoid of any semblance of professionalism or competence.
And don't even get me started on the food. While it managed to achieve the lofty heights of mediocrity, it was completely overshadowed by the sheer incompetence of the service. Dishes were unceremoniously dumped on our table without explanation, leaving us to play a guessing game of culinary Russian roulette.
In conclusion, Aangan is a culinary catastrophe of epic proportions. Save yourself the anguish and dine elsewhere. Your taste buds—and your...
Read moreI last visited Aangan on May 2024. The experience and food was so good that this time , Nov 2024 when I visited goa, I drove 32km to dine here. I even used to follow them in facebook and the events and cullinary content they share. From the first experience it was so unwelcoming! When I parked my car. The security has no idea what valet means ! But there is big sign board saying valet parking, I had to go inside and call in the manager to get my car parked! Next are the sequence of events: We placed order at 1:45 pm with captain bernard, 2 drinks, 2 starters . It was 2.25pm and nothing was served. I followed up with him and his gestures were like ‘ get lost bugger’. Finally the drinks arrived at 2.30pm. While serving the drinks he said that its rush hour so its taking time , I said I understand but try to be a bit quick with the starters . There was a family of 4 in the table beside us, the kid called him as ‘ uncle pls come’ for which he said ‘I dont have 3 hands’. I understand frustration , but this guy has some different level of rudeness. But to my amaze there was a marathi family that arrived in the same room 10 mins after us. He was happily serving them and chitchatting with them all the while in marathi or similar language. They were done with starters and on main course by the time our drinks arrived. At around 2.55 pm we were done waiting and asked for bill. He didnt come with a bill. We settled the bill at the counter . The starters were first added in the bill, which we got removed as they were never served! They added a service charge too, for a service not offered. Lastly , I had to wait another 8 mins as the guard ( same one) couldnt find the keys of my car. Frustrated as I was, as the captain bernard that I literally had to sneak into their keys drawer to find my key. And guess what, the car number tagged to the key was not mine! In photo, me, staring at their decor while waiting for the food for an hour! Behind me , the famous...
Read moreI had visited this place today along with my wife and son. I had ordered a mushroom pepper fry costing ₹ 350/- along with other items. The mushroom item served did not have any pepper in it and also lots of turmeric powder was put, which made the item slightly yellow and bitter. This was highlighted to the waiter, who had assured to rectify the order and prepare the same fresh. When the item was served again for the second time, it was found that the same dish was served, which was returned by us earlier. This was again highlighted to the waiter, who in turn asked us to take some other item from the menu card in place of mushroom pepper fry. As I wanted to have mushroom pepper fry only, I had asked the waiter to take back the item and cancel the order.
Thereinafter at the time of bill settlement, to my surprise, I found that the rate of ₹ 350/- was charged for the mushroom pepper fry which I did not have. When this was highlighted, the waiter again asked me to take some other item after consulting his manager sitting in the counter but enforced that the amount will be charged.
I found this extremely casual and a callous approach while addressing my requirement. It shows that there is no professionalism demonstrated whatsoever in addressing the culinary needs of customers. It meant that due to the inefficiency of the cook who couldn't serve the committed dish, I had to force change my taste as per their whims and fancies!
Such a callous approach may only be an outcome of a high headed attitude of the owner or staff running the restaurant due to success going into their heads.
I do not expect any show of apology in response to my message. Though it will not make and difference to the owner or the staff, but definitely, I will never come back again due to this extremely disgraceful experience!!
