I can’t rave enough about this little family-owned-and-run restaurant in Agonda. If you’re living in the neighborhood, chances are you’ll be back here for multiples meals at different times of the days to sample all the delicious food, and soon be able to spot the other regulars.
For breakfast, we tried their omelette and shakshuka platter. For a Nepali family, they make some kick ass middle eastern food. For lunch and dinner, we tried their falafel platter (the standout dish at this restaurant; we ordered it on four separate occasions and licked the remains of the hummus off the plate each time), thupka, thenthuk (highly recommend this; the handmade noodles are incredible), mothuk, momos, chicken fried rice, and vegetable maggi. Each of these was served in large delicious portions.
Agonda is not a very bustling village, and like most restaurants here, you can’t expect to be in and out in under 45 mins. They have about three people cooking in the kitchen and one person waiting tables. Expect to wait 30 minutes minimum and all the way up to an hour for your food to arrive. In that time, you can chat with your friends, talk to the other regulars, peruse the menu and plan future meals – don’t be the asshole who complains about the wait time at a mom-and-pop establishment.
If you’re on vacation in the area, and looking to keep expenses down, Agonda Corner fits the bill. For a full lunch or dinner for three people, we never paid more then 750 bucks, but it was mostly under. Given this, however, you can’t expect anything resembling “ambience.” No ac, no mood lighting, no deferring service with a smile, no fluff. Simple, clean, casual dining.
This place was foundational to our successful regular consumption of warm affordable nutritious meals in South Goa. We...
Read moreSince I had no breakfast and it was nearly lunchtime, I was very hungry, so I ordered a spinach and cheese omelette and a beetroot, pineapple and ginger juice.
The omelette was a 5/10 and the juice was 8/10. The juice is the only thing that has lifted the food rating from 1 to 2 stars.
I then ordered the chicken burger/fries. The burger didn't look anything like what was in the picture and didn't taste very nice at all. The fries were home made and were all soggy with oil.
The service in this place just topped off how I will never be going back there and would advise others to do so. The lady who served me had her head down watching her phone the entire time and every time I or someone else would ask for something, she would roll her eyes and throw her head back.
I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND.
