Been here before but first time posting a review because it's the only time I was let down by the food to the point where it warranted one.
I ordered 3 things off the menu.
Now. Although my rating of 3 stars may disappoint you. I still would recommend this place as they do have decent food.
Service was great. No complaints there. Ambience was nice too, pretty basic, nothing to write home about.
Coming to the most important aspect, the food. I'll go according to the order I mentioned above
The Mash Burger. Was quite disappointed with this considering how appetizing the blend of Chicken, Beef and Bacon sounds.. Unfortunately the burger itself was quite a let down with the patty being dry. The caramelized onions did no favors either as they just made it a sloppy mess. The fries were a little salty but we're decent enough.
The cold coffee. This was more milk than anything. I understand that it's a milk based drink but it's a cold 'coffee' with the coffee being the star of the show! Unfortunately in my case, although it was a refreshing drink on a hot afternoon, I missed the flavour of the coffee itself and was ultimately let down by this as well.
The Brownie Was hoping this would be the redeeming factor, unfortunately it ended up disappointing me the most. Before I continue, i have to say, it was a fantastic brownie, but here's what upset me.
I could tell that the brownie had been microwaved to create that 'warm' feeling, considering when I moved the plate, it felt warm to the touch - which I completely understand. However, in this case. The brownie was HOT infact I burnt my tongue because I didn't realise how hot it would be.
What further upset me was after I realised how hot it was I had to wait to comfortably eat the brownie, but by that time, the ice cream on top had melted into a puddle. So when it was eventually time to eat the brownie, or enjoy it rather, I felt like I was eating a brownie with milk on top.
Nonetheless, it was a great tasting brownie when it had cooled down to an enjoyable temperature. However, I would like to point out that I noticed the ice-cream on top of the brownie was straight out of a ready-cup ice cream, rather than being scooped on, which was a little surprising to see, but it's alright.
To conclude. This may have been a one off, and I hope the next time I visit will be better; but I would still recommend this place for a decent meal, very few of it's kind in the south so it's definitely worth a...
Read moreAJ's located at Margao is a superb restaurant to dine at that offers great food options along with an incredibly hospitable service, great staff and value for money. At AJ's you'll love the continental dishes and the cocktails are refreshing
We dined here with our friends and here's what we have to say about their food
Started with refreshing drinks
Mojitos- Orange, blue curacao and green apple mojitos were beyond refreshing and soothing. The sweetness was perfect and our personal favorite was green apple hence a recommended one
Shakes - Tried their oreo shake and chocolate shake, both were thick and creamy and rich in chocolate.
Bbq wings - This appetizer is a must try when at AJ's. Sweet and spicy just like how it should be. Chicken was cooked to perfection and was very tender. The dish was clean within 2 mins.
Chicken white sauce pasta - Creamy and full of herbs this pasta was delicious. Served with 2 pieces of garlic bread this pasta is a must try if you're a thinking about selecting pasta for your meal.
Half spicy pork/half choris pizza - This pizza had half the spicy pork topping and half as cottage cheese topping. A crowd pleading dish on the menu and we loved it
Grilled chicken burger - Intact with spice, the chicken patty was cooked with different flavours. It also bacon inside. You're definitely gonna fall in love with this one if burger is what you're thinking to order
Poulet a la champignon - This is a main course french dish which is nothing but chicken cooked in creamy mushroom sauce served with stir fried beans and sliced potatoes. Chicken was tender and juicy and we recommend this one highly.
Desserts - We tried banofee pie, brownie and churos. Amongst the 3 banofee pie won our hearts. It had a butter flavoured biscuit as the base with a banana cream and toffee mixture on top. Just too delicious. Also the brownie was mindblowing and the churos were soft and served with caramel sauce.
Our dining experience here was really amazing. The host was great and lastly we would like to say that whoever visits Goa has to dine at AJ's without fail.

Read moreWe were scouting for places for our Daughters birthday.. Just a small gathering of her friends, Our son suggested we do it at AJ's so we went to meet the team there and it was indeed lovely to meet Ashley the owner of the restaurant who made us feel comfortable and assured us that our little guests will be well taken care of :). We had a few guests with dietary restrictions and this too was taken care off.
Our request of opening the restaurant a little earlier than usual was readily accepted and a section on the upper floor of the restaurant was cordoned off. The area has a small Table tennis table for those interested. The food a combination of Starters and Pizzas were well made and the guests loved it. We had guests raving about the Lemon Ice tea too.
Chef Kanval made sure that the menu was spot on and to the delight of our guests.. whether it was the sandwiches, their famous BBQ wings, Corn and Cheese Fritters, the Veg and non Veg Pizzas were absolutely yum. The replenishments were quick and efficient and the food quality was consistent even during the replenishment. We like to appreciate also the efforts of Ansfrid & Denoi who were always there to ensure our guests were well taken care of. Their service with a smile was something that stood out.
AJ's is one of those restaurants who let their food and service do the talking.
Best wishes Ashley and team
