Just came from having dinner and a couple of drinks.
Food - Ordered Paneer Vindaloo and some steamed rice. Also Fish Tikka which came with Chips and Salad.
Firstly the Paneer Vindaloo - It was requested spicy (as it should be)and when it came around 15 minutes before the Tikka, it was spicy.
That's where it went wrong.. Vindaloo as you know is a Goan Dish that originated in Portugal. It should be sour and spicy, what was served was tasty but it was not sour.. it was like a spicy butter masala, bit creamy and not a hint of sourness in it.
On questioning the waiter, he told us that's the way it's meant to be. We've eaten all over Goa (and Portugal) and that was not a Vindaloo sorry my partner did eat it as it was tasty, just not what was ordered and was under 200 Rs.
So as mentioned the Fish Tikka came 15 minutes later, and pretty much as my partner had nearly finished hers.
Big metal plate, however the salad was just some shredded cabbage with a token gesture of a 1 slice of tomato and 2 slices of cucumber.
The green sauce, unsure what it was meant to be as it was horrid and bland, didn't have it.
The chips were soggy on the inside, and light brown on the outside, so I left them too.
The star of the show, well should have been.. 8 small bits of Fish Tikka.. It was cooked, infact over cooked it was so dry. Tikka should have a spice to it, sadly it was bland as well as overdone.
I mentioned to the waiter when he came to collect the plates, however wasn't interested when I mentioned it was not good.
Drinks - yes they were fine, can't really go wrong with 2 Kingfishers and 2 port wines with a can of tonic.
480 for that Tikka is the worst thing I've eaten in Goa this trip, been here since mid October.
Sadly we chose to go here tonight as we had a lovely meal there last year, where we had the Goan Fish Curry and Chicken Kadai from what I recall were nice.
Tonight was a disappointment and won't...

Honestly, I can’t rate this place enough. These guys feel like family to me now. The food is SOOOO good, and I have been a chef for 18 years working in the best restaurants around the world, and I can safely say I didn’t have a better meal in my time in Arambol than here.
Beautiful, amazing breads, like the ones you dream about before coming to India. Made fresh to order in their tandoori. The curries have such a depth of flavour! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Jack & Hazel are the sweetest humans and I just enjoyed being in the atmosphere of the restaurant, it has a community feel with the same people coming back day after day.
And they have some really great music nights on the top of the restaurant, which attract the best musicians in the area, and it’s just such a vibe chilling on the roof, in the warm weather listening to live music.
And all the staff are very helpful and attentive and really go out there way to look after you.
Can’t wait to see everyone again.
Thank you so...
Read moreMediocre. Used to be a great place with delicious food and affordable prices but turned into mediocre cafe. We were waiting for our order which was very simple for 30 min, no any apology from the staff. After waiting this long, they messed up the order, when confronting the owner were told that that order is right. None of the staff or owner seemed interested in solving the problem. We were coming exceptionally because of nostalgic feeling but last few times orders were messed up, bland and took too long. I’ll never come there again or recommend it to anyone. There’s better...
