BIG FAT SANDWICH — Restaurant in Goa

One of the few promising outlets to have opened in Anjuna,Goa.I have been going there regularly quite some time and was even ordering online through swiggy frequently. But on 10/7/22 I went there around 9 pm, and my experience was so so bad that even horrible would have been acceptable.I need to write this review to reach out to the owner of this place as they need to be aware how their staff is running the show in their absence. When we arrived,the Cafe had just 2 tables dining of which 1 left soon so it was 2 tables including us. The waiter took the order didn't write anything on a pad and came back 10 minutes later to take the same order again as most probably he didn't remember. My order was a chicken croissant with cream cheese,a chocolate truffle pastry,a vietnamese cold coffee and Nutella based cold coffee. As you can understand nothing in my order requires high preparation time, but I was made to wait 30 minutes for the coffee and an hour for the cake and the croissant considering they just had to serve the cake directly from the display. Moreover the vietnamese cold coffee provided was already mixed with condensed milk and ice without my consent as generally they provide this coffee with separate condensed milk and black coffee with ice.Upon asking the waiter,he replied that they had less ice so they premixed everything and served it that away.I decided not to have it and they replaced it with a cappuccino. Eventually called for the bill and offered to pay and leave but astonishingly they were quite fast and didn't make me to wait as they wished that I leave soon maybe. Moreover the bill had a service charge of 10% apart from the regular gst,which according to new norms cannot be implemented without the approval of the customer.In my case there was practically a very bad service experience as they should provide an option to the customer to pay it willingly and when I mentioned this to the staff,all I could get was blank stares. Finally while all this happening,some long curly haired guy who happens to either be a manager or senior staff,was sitting right behind us on a table and acted as if he is unaware of the situation and choose to ignore it all and kept himself busy on his phone. I sincerely urge the owners to take note of this incident as I would wish to come back again and enjoy their food but as of now ordering through swiggy seems better to avoid...

Going by the ambience, the name and size of the restaurant, it seemed like quite a promising option for dinner. However, we were in for a bitter disappointment with the service as well as the portion size...it was anything but a 'Big fat' sandwich!

When I ordered a Grilled Cheese Sandwich, I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. However, after 15 minutes, there were no signs of my sandwich. 20 minutes elapsed and then 25 minutes...still no signs of my order. Upon following up, we were told it would take another 5 minutes. This was becoming very frustrating and the hunger was killing me! Finally the order arrived 35-40 minutes after we placed it! That was an unbelievably long wait time for a simple sandwich!

When the food was finally brought to our table, I was in for a shock at the sight of it...instead of a 'Big fat' sandwich, on the platter was lying a thin, flat sandwich...what a massive disappointment! Besides, it didn't even seem grilled! It was merely toasted, which further added to my disappointment!

Upon probing the reason for the long delay, we got to know that they were busy packing food that someone had ordered - guess it was a food delivery order. I had been observing them packing box after box for a long time. Looks like that order was prioritized over ours, because a 40 minute wait for a simple sandwich in-house is just not justified!

If it was any other classy restaurant which cared about its customers, they would have tried making up for the delay in some way. However, they merely presented us the bill and happily took the payment. By the way, the sandwich was no great shakes either. It barely had any vegetables that were mentioned in the description. Also, I realized only later that there is a choice of bread that we can make for the sandwich. Since I had overlooked it, the person who took the order could have asked which bread I wanted. Instead, they just randomly used sour dough bread, which I wouldn't have otherwise taken, since I would have preferred a healthier option like brown bread or multigrain bread.

Pathetic experience. Would not recommend this...
