In the world of Niyaaz, Bawarchi, BBK and other loudly advertised options, one may be forgiven for not knowing about the joy that is Biryani Palace. Tucked away in a corner of Porvorim on the eastward road from Coquerio junction, I first discovered it on the way to/from torda creek, when I had the delicious smell waft through to me and imprint itself in my memory. I didn't realise it then, but my brain had made a note of this place. Months after that day, I had to parcel some biryani for a party and I was scrolling through Swiggy when I remembered this place. They offer much cheaper rates if you go pick it up yourself as compared to Swiggy/Zomato. The place is not oriented to dine-in although I'm sure hot biryani will taste better than slightly cold. The food is incredible. It's the closest one can get to 'authentic' Biryani. Moist, flavourful, subtle. If you need extra masala, extra spicy, extra pieces, etc, there are paid options available for all. One portion can satisfy a light eater easily. What I like the most is that they do not have a diverse menu. They make a few things (since the year 2000), and they make them well. No kababs, shawarma, nothing. Just varieties of biryani, extra raita/masala, and 2-3 gravies. I can vouch for the mutton, special mutton and chicken biryanis. They are good every time. If you want a relatively affordable, delicious, uncomplicated biryani experience in North Goa, visit the Palace....
Read moreThe Biryani varieties here are not what they were a long time ago, plus they have only a rudimentary form of paytm to accept payments, other digital forms of payments are not accepted here even during this pandemic, they literally force one to pay by cash.
The owner and counter staff have been rude in the past, and, they do not seem to be interested in making amends in their attitude and behaviour.
There are much better places to have good and great Biryani in North Goa who accept many other forms of digital payments.
Unless one is not in a time and distance frame, skip this eatery.
The following below is what the owner told me when I asked him about digital payments:
When I asked him why he does not accept cards and digital payments other than a ancient paytm wallet, I was told that if I need to pay via cards, or, other digital payments like UPI I must order from Swiggy, or, Zomato, as they accept those payments, and, get the Biryani delivered at my location, or, come and...
Read moreIt was really good the food is affordable and taste is really good, me and my friends had chicken biryani today the plate comes with good amount of biryani, dahi, achat and some curry. Its one of the best exoriances i have ever had. The sitting area is uniquely designed and the staff is friendly, the place is small in size but its worth a try. You can call it some sort of modern dhaba. We had ordered five plates and it was on our table within no time. I was little worried about the cleanliness of the place due to covid but trust me the place was maintained perfectly, i evan accidentally dropped a piece of chicken on floor and the guy cleaned it soon after we brought it to his notice. Tge chicken is not boneless and pieces are little bigger. They xould have improves there but for the price the services and food was excellent. One plate was rs 200 if you wonder (as...
