We went to Bottlejack Bistro as a random choice after reading some reviews. The place definitely surpassed all reviews!
Parking is available at a little open space near the bistro, so that's a load off given the mess of flyover construction on that road. The entrance is pretty and with chandeliers with little lights reflecting off the glass windows and giving the place a magical effect.
There is a lovely bar along the ground floor with a library decor bookshelves et al, and a huge open seating space downstairs with a big screen and smoking sections.
You go up a lovely wooden staircase and enter a spacious room with the AC running full blast, where the staff are warm and welcoming.
We were 6 of us so could order a variety of dishes. Rarely have I been to a restaurant where every single dish served was uniformly superlative! We tried the chicken wings, garlic prawns, chicken sheesh taouk, chicken skewers and garlic bread for starters. For the main course we tried the slow cooked ribs, chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach, flame seared Mediterranean chicken and beef stroganoff. All of them were superb, but the beef stroganoff deserves special mention. We also had a vegetarian pasta with white sauce and it was also superlative.
By the time dessert came around we were stuffed but managed to try the salted caramel chocolate tart and the La Rouge, both of which were amazing and pretty unique.
All in all it was a great all round experience and the icing on the cake was that the alcohol prices were extremely reasonable and down to earth.
Definitely a place to go to when you...
Read moreThis is like a hidden gem !! Hadn't heard much about it. Living in Porvorim,I should have visited the place a lot earlier!! We just decided to try it out, just for a change..Great food !! Compliments to the chef's..we liked everything we ordered while we were there! Some dishes we ordered were Chicken tikka,Karwari prawns,Chilli mushrooms with coriander, beer batter squids,Garlic bread, Chicken tikka masala, watermelon &feta salad, etc(too many to jot down!😁). Desserts were also very nice indeed.. We had Serradura, Chocolate mousse & warm brownie with icecream..(yup..a lot of food!! What can I say...we're a foodie family😄). This is a place I would definitely recommend to everybody.. Think they need a bit more marketing though...very low key kind of place, even though it's's right on the highway going towards Panjim (area is called Porvorim for those out of state). Pretty decent pricing and the food is definitely worth it!! Very good service as well!! Most definitely worth a visit!! A big thumb's up to everybody involved..👍👍 Keep up the...
Read moreA lovely restaurant, just off the highway heading to Panjim from Porvorim. Parking wasn't a problem with plenty of space in their private lot.
The food was excellent across the board. I would especially recommend the beef steak. Have it medium rare. The meat is rather tough medium or well done. The Nasi Goreng was excellent too, if slightly dry. Will definitely order steak next time.
The desserts were good. Not too sweet, with small but sufficient portions. The tiramisu was especially good.
Last but not the least, we happened to stop by on a Saturday evening when Clifford the Illusionist was performing. It was incredible watching an expert at sleight of hand perform classic illusions flawlessly right up close.
Try to arrive at 7.45 to have the pick of the seating and finish up with a bit of entertainment at the table...
