This place is embedded in a corner opposite Shantadurga temple and serves Goan breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We visited here for breakfast of Patal-bhaji-pao , a mildly spiced curry of Vatana(white peas) , potato and tomato in coconut base. This is best enjoyed with locally baked Pao. Also worth a try is Mirchi bhajji and Bun. Bun is close cousin of Mangalore buns, mildly sweet and savoury, deep fried leavened bread. Ros-Omlet -Pao is a winner here. It's an omelette soaked in Chicken Xacuti gravy, again coconut based. Eaten with Pao or Poi. Poi is available only for lunch and dinner. Do try if you are not a staunch vegetarian or vegan.
A local dessert "Bhakkam-Pedha" ( literally "Huge-Pedha"), a layered cake of maida(bread flour) fried and soaked is syrup is also good to finish the breakfast. They could serve a better tea though. The owner is humble gentleman. He runs this simple, typical local eatery without frills or enough fans. This is a must go place for sumptuous breakfast at...
Read moreI am happy that my craving for Ros Omlette was finally satisfied at this place. After visiting 2-3 places in morning time always used to return disappointed after knowing that most of the places were serving Ros Omlette in the evening.
Thankfully after researching alot finally got this cafe which was serving Ros Omlette for breakfast. Cafe Anand was a busy place and saw Ros Omlette was their signature dish as most of the table's had ordered for Ros Omlette. Service was quick at this place.
We quickly ordered for Ros Omlette and Tea. Ros Omlette was very mild and flavourful. The Rassa taste was good which made the entire dish shine. With chopped onions and squeezed lemon it tasted brilliant. I liked it so much that I ordered for one more plate.
Overall I was happy that my wish of having Ros Omlette in Goa was finally fulfilled and got to taste it an authentic one from a well...
Read moreWhen you are in Goa, you visit a restaurant/cafe and you find that you are surrounded by locals, know that you are at the right place. It's a no nonsense restaurant that offers typical Goan breakfast along with few lunch items in the afternoon. It's situated just by the Calangute square. I visited it twice and had usal bhaji, Watana bhaji, mixed bhaji along with pav and supplemented by Goan mirchi bhaji. Also got their samosas as parcel for our friend who wasn't with us. We liked all of their dishes. Prices are also very reasonable. On our first visit, we ordered three food items and two beverages, got a parcel for our friend and yet the bill was 190/-. Just a day back we had visited Navratna Udupi restaurant where we had to wait for an hour for typical south Indian dishes that turned out average at best. So I have decided to always go for Goan...
