I'm thrilled to share my exceptional dining experience at Caravela Cafe and Bistro in Margao! This hidden gem exceeded my expectations in every way, and I'm excited to rave about it.
Breakfast Delights
The English Breakfast was a perfect start to my day, with scrambled eggs, sausages, and toast cooked to perfection. The portion was generous, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite.
Signature Coffees
But what truly stole the show was their Signature Rich Cold Coffee. This refreshing drink is a must-try, with its rich coffee flavor and creamy texture that's sure to perk you up. And if you're a coffee connoisseur, you'll love their expertly brewed coffees - every sip was a delight! ☕️
Sandwiches
The sandwiches were another highlight, with the Bombay Sandwich and Smoked Chicken Sandwich being standouts. The Bombay Sandwich was a flavorful combination of vegetables, cheese, and sauces, while the Smoked Chicken Sandwich was tender, juicy, and full of smoky goodness.
Goan Delights
I also tried their famous Goan snack, Prawns Rissois, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a delicious prawn filling. It was absolutely addictive!
Desserts
And then, there were the desserts... Oh my! The Nutella Cheesecake was a signature dessert for a reason - it was rich, creamy, and utterly decadent. The Carrot Cake was moist, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. And as a bonus, I tried their Biscoff Cheesecake, which was a game-changer - the combination of creamy cheesecake and crunchy Biscoff cookies was pure perfection.
Ambiance
The ambiance of the cafe was warm and cozy, with a beautiful blend of old-world Portuguese charm and modern touches. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Overall, I highly recommend Caravela Cafe and Bistro to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Varca. Don't miss out on their signature dishes, sandwiches, and desserts - and be sure to try their stunning coffees! 😋

Read moreA disappointing experience showing clear decline in quality over repeated visits. While my first visit in February was memorable with an outstanding hot chocolate, recent visits have been let down.
The most uncomfortable aspect is the staff's behavior - constantly hovering and staring at customers while they eat, creating an extremely awkward dining atmosphere, especially if your solo then definitely you're gone hate it the most.
My recent visit was particularly disappointing. The signature hot chocolate was a far cry from its earlier excellence - served lukewarm with a watery consistency (seemed like 70% water, 30% milk) and barely any chocolate flavor. The Ross omelette was mediocre at best, with undercooked eggs and raw smell, hard pao bread.
Pros: Convenient location near bus stand Good variety of dining options available
Cons: Intrusive and uncomfortable staff behavior Inconsistent food quality Significant decline in beverage quality Poor service standards Hard bread and improperly cooked items
While this cafe showed promise initially, it's sad to see such a decline in both food quality and service standards.
Based on my recent experiences, I cannot recommend this cafe due to the uncomfortable dining atmosphere created by overly intrusive staff and declined food quality.
However, there's potential for improvement if the management takes necessary steps: firstly, training their staff on proper customer service etiquette (especially to give diners their personal space instead of hovering around tables), and secondly, returning to their original high standards of food and beverage preparation that they showed during my first visit.
Until these improvements are made, especially addressing the intrusive staff behavior which is both annoying and irritating, I would think twice before...
Read moreI will never recommend this place to anyone. Please don’t visit this place. I went there with my family to spend our evening. I had my laptop with me and even before guiding us to the seat the owner came and told us that laptop is not allowed here, which was the first red flag. Still we went ahead, took a seat and ordered food. I was little unwell and suffering from severe pain in my legs that day. To make myself little comfortable i opened my shoes and sat on their couch with folded legs to relax myself a bit while waiting for our order. The server came and asked me to keep my feet down I requested them that I am a little unwell and not wearing shoes so please let me make myself comfortable in that posture for a while. Then the owner came and pointed out very rudely to keep the feet down saying you have been told many times and it will ruin the sofa. The environment was so negative, staff and owner is arrogant, rude and lacks empathy.
We are frequent travellers and our visits includes stays at 5 star hotels even they have never pointed out such things whenever I sit with crossed legs while having my breakfast or dinner at their restaurants and cafes. If the owner thinks that this kind of hospitality and behaviour will help him grow his business then I really feel sorry for him.
I have read his replies to other feedbacks as well and I can clearly see that they are not at all open for feedback and wont be apologetic at all for ruining our evening with family that day. But I am here to save others time and money by avoiding going to this place.
This place left a bitter taste...
