Shri Damodar Sal — Attraction in Goa

A small shrine of Lord Damodar is famous throughout the city and is sanctified by SWAMI VIVEKANANDA in 1892. This temple is maintained by a prosperous family which is actually their house deity. This place is one of the few sites where Swami Vivekananda visited during his tour to Goa. The moment you enter this house -cum - temple , you will see an inscription reminding about the above fact. Every night a half an hour musical program is held which is totally devoted to Lord Damodar. According to a legend, when the Portuguese attacked the Hindu temples of Margao(then Mathagram) , the Lord of the city Lord Damodar was taken away and was brought to this site .
