Nestled in the heart of the colva city, Kalliste Restaurant is a hidden gem that transports you straight to the tropical paradise of Bali. From the moment you step inside, the ambience envelops you in a warm, inviting atmosphere, adorned with lush greenery, soft lighting, and Balinese-inspired decor that creates a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The soothing background music adds to the overall experience, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a fun night out with friends.
One of the standout features of Kalliste is undoubtedly its staff. The team is exceptionally coordinated and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. Their enthusiasm for the menu and willingness to provide recommendations truly enhances the dining experience. It’s evident that they take pride in their work, and their passion shines through in the service they provide.
Now, let’s talk about the cocktails. If you visit Kalliste, you absolutely must try their signature drink, the "Gasolina." This cocktail is a delightful explosion of flavors, expertly crafted to tantalize your taste buds. The balance of ingredients is impeccable, making it a refreshing choice that pairs beautifully with the vibrant dishes on the menu. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just looking for something to sip on while you enjoy your meal, Gasolina is a must-try.
As for the food, Kalliste truly excels in offering a diverse and innovative menu. We started our culinary journey with the crispy chicken, which was unlike any other crispy chicken dish I’ve encountered in town. The chicken was perfectly fried to a golden crisp, with a unique blend of spices that set it apart from the typical offerings. Each bite was juicy and flavorful, making it a standout appetizer that left us eager for more.
Next, we indulged in the Hara Bara Kebab, which was nothing short of mouthwatering. These vegetarian kebabs were packed with a medley of fresh greens and spices, grilled to perfection. The texture was delightful, and the flavors were vibrant, making it a fantastic option for both vegetarians and meat-lovers alike.
For our main course, we opted for the Lepo fish, which was beautifully fried and seasoned. The fish was flaky and tender, showcasing the chef's expertise in preparing seafood. It was undoubtedly one of the best-fried fish dishes I’ve had, and the accompanying sauces complemented it perfectly.
To round off our meal, we couldn’t resist trying the biryani. This dish was a royal treat, exuding an aroma that instantly whetted our appetites. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the flavors were rich and complex, with the addition of tulsi leaves providing a unique twist that elevated the dish to new heights. Each spoonful was a delightful experience, and it was clear that a lot of care and attention went into crafting this dish.
Overall, Kalliste Restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. The combination of a stunning ambience, attentive service, and a menu filled with unique and flavorful dishes makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re in the mood for cocktails, appetizers, or a full meal, Kalliste has something to offer everyone. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreDuring our recent visit to Kallistë, we sampled a variety of dishes and beverages, each offering a unique experience. Here's a breakdown of our culinary adventure:
Prawns Biryani: 4.9/5
This dish is a must-try! The prawns biryani was flavorful and perfectly cooked with lots of medium sized prawns . Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kallistë.
Chicken Wings: 3.5/5
While the wings had a nice spice, they were comparatively lacking in meat. A decent choice, but not the standout of our meal.
Chicken Mushroom Bruschetta: 4.3/5
Despite having only four servings, this bruschetta was a delightful treat for the taste buds. The flavors were well-balanced and thoroughly enjoyable.
Chicken Pita Pockets: 4/5
These were very soft and featured a perfect balance of sauces. A great appetizer that we would definitely order again.
Summer Breeze (Dark Orange Color): 3.8/5
This drink was a mixture of different Tropicana juices. While refreshing, it wasn't particularly special.
Mango Tango (Yellow Color): 4/5
A mixture of mango syrup and lime, this drink tasted better than the Summer Breeze. A good choice for a tropical refreshment.
Ambiance and Service:
Unfortunately, the dining experience was marred by the lack of air conditioning. The restaurant only had rotating fans, making it very hot and causing us to sweat throughout the meal. It's best to visit during the rainy season when you can enjoy the sea breeze. Additionally, the service was quite slow, which added to the discomfort.
Cleanliness and Amenities:
The restaurant has clean washrooms and offers multiple payment options, including cash, card, and Gapy. However, the presence of numerous Insects, including flies, ants, and homets, was very annoying. It was disappointing that the staff had not taken measures to address this issue, as two of our dishes (Summer Breeze and Prawns Biryani) were spolled by hamets.
Overall Rating: 3.9/5
While the food at Kallisté was generally good and had the potential for a higher rating, the overall experience was negatively impacted by the insect problem. If this issue were addressed, it could easily...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Kalliste Restaurant in Colva, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal.
We kicked things off with their Mogachi Poi—a traditional Goan bread that was soft and delicious, the perfect companion to the flavorful dishes. For drinks, I had the Cucumber Iced Tea, which was incredibly refreshing and a great way to beat the heat.
For the mains, we went for the Falafel, which was crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender inside. It came with a tasty hummus dip and was a great vegetarian option. The seafood platter was also a standout, so fresh and flavorful.
The service was exceptional—friendly, efficient, and the staff went out of their way to make our meal special. They gave great menu recommendations and were genuinely enthusiastic about the food.
And the location, just a short walk from Colva Beach, is a bonus. After our meal, we took a leisurely stroll along the shore, which made for the perfect end to our day.
Kalliste is definitely a gem in Colva, offering a wonderful blend of Goan flavors and international cuisine. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area. Can’t...
