Magzika Beach Shack — Restaurant in Goa

Betalbatim and Cavelossim beach are my 2 favourite beaches to kick back and relax in South Goa - lovely sand, tranquil, calm waters, picturesque backdrop and without the noisy crowds.

You can’t really go wrong with most of the Goan beach shacks as they all do their best to offer a good experience but Magzika deserves a special mention for all the right reasons. Occupying a prime spot on the beach, their food was superb. We had a fully-loaded prawn sizzler which came with rice, chips, and vegetables and was enough to satisfy both of us. The prawns were juicy and succulent, nestling in an Indo-Chinese inspired lip-smacking sauce. Whilst there we saw other guests devouring the shack’s pizzas and biryanis. The smellls were enough to make your mouth water and the other guests were likewise full of glowing feedback.

We had fabulous service from Naresh and Pinku, who were earnest, helpful and sincere. Very attentive when needed but without being pushy or smothering.

What really set the shack apart was the attitude of all the staff to the stray beach dogs. They were not just kind to their human guests, but we also saw them being caring, affectionate and playful with the beach dogs too. We spoke with the owner and learned that he had set up a community initiative to provide care and sustenance to the stray dogs in Goa to better their lives. This spoke volumes to us about the sort of people working here.

We spent the last four days of our holiday in South Goa having spent the previous ten in the north. Upon arrival, by chance we came across Magzika beach shack. This was our fourth visit to Goa and we generally eat and drink in the shacks, this is by far the best we have used. Ganesh runs the show with a smile and welcoming demeanor. I highly recommend this place, there is a good selection of drinks and a food menu that caters for every taste. Ganesh showed me around the kitchen and it was an extremely proffesional set-up with individual cooking stations and clear segregation for meat and vegetarian meals. Everywhere was very clean, something you may not expect on a beach! The potion sizes are substantial especially the various rice and noodle dishes, unless you have a ravenous appetite you may want to share. During our 9 day stay in Goa, Magzika was one of the best part of the trip. The shack on Betalbatim beach and is on strip of Arossim, Utorda, Matroda beaches. After trying multiple shacks (and most of them are very average and charge almost 4 star prices) on this strip this one stuck with us. Their food is quite good - particular indian, sizzlers and steaks. On weekend they have live music, fire show etc. They also do private events, although we did not use that but the arrangement looked pretty good.

Apart from food the best part about Magzika is their team - Jack, Pinku, Chunnu and rest of them. Special shout out to Jack who took utmost care of making sure that best service is provided - be it our preferred space/sun bed or customisation in dishes. In my exp these folks are much better than over hyped and over crowded Zeebop, whose attitude is like they are doing a favour by giving you a table at the place.
