Martin’s Corner – A Culinary Gem in South Goa’s Green Embrace
Tucked away in the heart of South Goa, nestled among the lush tropical greenery and vibrant village life, Martin’s Corner is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Our journey to this iconic spot began with a scenic walk from the Majorda Beach Cottages, and that short stroll alone set the tone for a magical afternoon. With colorful Goan houses on either side and dense green cover overhead, the path to Martin’s Corner felt like walking through a postcard.
From the moment we entered, the warmth and professionalism of the staff stood out. They were kind, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu—ready with suggestions, attentive without being intrusive, and quick to make us feel right at home.
We started off with a few mocktails, and both the Blue Lagoon and the Mint Mojito hit the spot. Refreshing, well-balanced, and chilled to perfection, they were just what we needed after our walk. For those looking to indulge a little, the Pina Colada was a delight—creamy, tropical, and just the right kick of rum.
Now onto the real highlight: the food. We began with tiger prawns, grilled to absolute perfection. Each bite was juicy, smoky, and full of flavor. Following that, the calamari fry arrived—golden, crispy, and utterly addictive. It was one of those dishes you wish never ended.
Then came the lobster, which at ₹4500/kg might raise eyebrows at first glance. But the moment we tasted the butter garlic preparation, there were no regrets. Succulent, rich, and bursting with flavor, this was indulgence at its finest. The dish was so good we found ourselves talking about it hours later.
Meat lovers are in for a treat too. The beef steak with mushroom sauce was a masterclass in execution—well done as requested, yet tender and full of that deep, meaty richness. The mushroom sauce elevated the dish to a whole new level of comfort food. It’s rare to get steak this good in India, and Martin’s Corner nails it.
We also tried the mutton xacuti with rice, a traditional Goan curry that came with a generous serving of tender meat in a robust, spice-laden gravy. It was slightly on the spicier side, but not overpowering—just enough to give it character.
For dessert, we went for something I’d never tried before: Crème Brûlée. And what a revelation! The delicate caramelized sugar crust gave way to a creamy, velvety custard beneath—light, fragrant, and utterly addictive. It quickly became my new favorite dessert.
One thing to note for future visitors: Martin’s Corner takes a short break between shifts from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. Trust me, you don’t want to show up hungry and have to wait!
Final Verdict: Martin’s Corner isn’t just another seafood restaurant—it’s a cornerstone of Goan hospitality and culinary excellence. Whether you're in the mood for fresh seafood, hearty meats, or simply a peaceful meal surrounded by greenery, this place has it all. The food is top-notch, the vibe is laid-back yet classy, and the service is exceptional.
If you’re in South Goa and looking for a meal that combines local flavor with gourmet finesse, Martin’s Corner is a must-visit. Come for the food, stay for the experience—and maybe, like us, you’ll leave already planning...
Read moreReally wish I could leave a 5 start review ….. however I was given the worst service I could imagine . I’m sooo upset . Looking for a lovely place to have a meal for 1 . Rang at 7:06pm to book a table for 8:30pm on the same day and Arrived 8:29pm , walked to the front of door staff and said my name (nobody put my name in the booking system ) and guess what , name hasn’t even been implemented in the book which I looked at when arrived , next they said “ohhh it’s ok come no problem , should of known from then It’s time to leave but I stayed . Ordererd a king fisher lemon beer ,soda water , calamari masala fried , watermelon and prawn curry with rice .
First : waiter A brang the beer fairly quick which was the only thing that came within a reasonable time .
Second : I sat waiting around for maybe 5-10 min before someone took my order , now as I’ve been in hospitality for more than 10 years that’s a big no no and with the amount of staff on the floor it should’ve been much quicker .
Third : waiter Came took my order ( prawn curry , watermelon which isn’t even on the menu but he went above and beyond to deliver ) , boiled rice and Calamari. He was really good about advice of what to eat and he was the person that put in the order which i saw him do , he was the ONLY person who even checked on me to see where everything was . His name began with R & he was the only person I would give 5 starts to.
Thiird : calamaris came out 15-20 min after I ordered , soda water came out as I’m half way through calamari’s and I specifically asked for a glass with ice and he produced just the bottle (waited C) which really just wound me up as I specifically said I want everything to come out together .
Fourthly : once he never came with the ice I asked to see the manager as I really wasn’t impressed and once again just felt like they were focussed on other people as I was 1 man by myself .
Fifth: manager very apologetic but it’s gone way passed apology now aswel as asking me to point out who gave the bad service , it all just screamed red flag and it really put a downer on what was meant to be an exciting night considering I was referd to this place by someone , aswell as that I read some great reviews to so was expecting a great service and great Experince .
Don’t know if it’s me however India hast been great and Im not coming back , as a tourist I’ve not felt welcome and I know if I was Asian it would of been a total different experience .
Anyway thanks for the takeaway food and instead of dining in , I’ve now got takeaway for my apartment which will most probably get thrown away .
Can’t believe I’m actually writing this in the car park when I’m supposed to be sitting down and enjoying .
I work very hard for my money and really was disappointed in the fact I paid full price for everything and will have to go somewhere else or just go sleep hungry
Thanks Martin
P.s just checked who’s given the best reviews , no wonder , should’ve really just pad attention to that to be fair . Can’t really read any tourists leaving...
