Edit: It's been a year since I posted this review, I've visted this place with my family regularly every since. There have been some improvements over the year, they've improved on their French fries, it tastes so fresh! And they provide steak knives now too. Also, their peach iced tea is spectacular, definitely one of the best peach ice teas in Goa. The overall vibes of the place still remains fantastic :)
Possibly one of my family's favourite places to dine in. The vibe is always lively and fun!
Firstly, the location of the restaurant is located a little bit inside of a narrow road, but it is not at all hard to find because there's a board leading you to it, and you can always hear the vivacious music.
Speaking of the music, the atmosphere is always cheerful because of the live bands that play and the people either singing or dancing along, or both. Though sometimes the music can be a little too loud so you'll have to shout what you have to say to the person you're talking to😅 but the music is the charm of the place.
Coming to the food, the quantity could be a little more in my opinion but the taste is good overall. The naan isn't too crunchy or too chewy- it's good, the tandoori platter is also great but again it could use more on a plate, the fries are not that special as it tastes like usual frozen fries, the caesar salad could also use some improvement definitely, the crispy chicken was unique, the ice tea was nice, cold and refreshing, the steak was really filling and tasted immaculate, and the fried rice and butter chicken was also delicious.
The service was different everytime we went here but mostly it has been positive. Once they didn't give a steak knife to cut the steak which was troublesome but a good workout for the arms lol. And another time the waiter forgot one of the dishes. Also one of the younger waiters asked some personal questions to my friend which she found uncomfortable as she does not know the boy. However the other waiters are a lot nicer and they gave us some desserts on the house which was surprising!
In conclusion, this place is great especially if you want to have a fun time with family and friends, would definitely recommend. Hope my review helps and hope the restaurant...
Read moreMike's Place is like an addiction if you are living within walking distance. Me and wife were on vacation and put up nearby to Mike's Place. It is a bright lit restaurant with the live music filling up the air in the lane it's situated. That is what attracted us to the place for dinner. We found ourselves seated at Mike's Place every evening thereon. They have everything in the right place to make the restaurant a roaring success. Location - Walking distance from the beach and hotels Ambience - Romantic as well as fun. Suitable for people of all ages. We saw families with different generations seated and enjoying equally. Entertainment - They have live band every evening which gets everyone seated in the mood to shake a leg. Overall vibes of the place is supercharged and happy. Food - Finger licking good. We mostly ate Goan food - Prawns Recheado, Chicken Cafreal, Pork Vindalu, Chicken Xacuti, chicken wings in hot garlic sauce, chicken wings in barbeque sauce....and the list goes on. All the above were devoured not on a single day though. We tried these foods on various days we visited. Drinks and Mocktails were great. Virgin Pina colada, Guava mary were great. Service - The servers are sharp and fast to take orders, backed by furiously busy team of chefs in the Kitchen and Bar. We did not have to wait longer than 10 minutes for any dish to arrive at our table. Affordability - The cost of eating and drinking here isn't very high. It is affordable and worth it.
I had to meet Mike on my last dinner over there, so I met him to compliment him on such a beautiful eaterie. He is a pleasant, warm and courteous person who knows how to win people.
We look forward to visit the place every time we...
Read moreWe spent eight days in Cavelossim, and although there are several other decent places around, Mike's Place became a favourite, not least because of the fantastic service we received. Cavelossim was our first destination in Goa after a long flight to Mumbai, a four hour wait for a further flight to Goa, followed by an almost two hour drive to Cavelossim. The monsoon was pouring down nonstop and all of us, two parents, two children (7 and 5) and a one year old baby, were tired and hungry. As the rest of us were unpacking and settling in to our new home, my wife went out with our baby girl to find some food. She came back with a few packed dishes, and it turned that even though she had forgotten to bring any money (we had just arrived and were not yet organized), they didn't even hesitate to make the food and trust her to bring the payment later, which of course we did. Whenever we visited the restaurant during our stay the food was always excellent, whether Goan, Indian or Western, and service was outstanding, including spontaneous entertainment for the children. Prices are midrange and completely reflective of the quality of food and service. I would urge anyone in the area for a few days to try out several places, diversity is a good thing (even though I would skip Robin's Ark where we had a completely opposite experience), but do not skip Mike's Place. If you're just passing through and have time for just one meal in Cavelossim, Mike's Place is a sure bet! See you...
