A simple place 'non AC' but Serves good, tasty, authentic value for money Goan fish thali, much much better than many of the hyped up restaurants on the beach stretches in Goa that charge a bomb but serve what is no way authentic Goan taste. This shady looking restaurant is located at the back of Mapusa Muncipal Market, ie fish and meat area and is worth a try. The basic fish thali was with fish named 'Muddoshi' in the local Goan Konkani language and which in English is called as Lady Fish or Silver Fish Whiting, and also known by different names such as 'Negli/ Nogli or Kane' in Karnataka's Mangalore Coastal Belt and is called as 'Kilangan, Kilachi'(கிழங்கான்,கிளச்சி) in Tamil, 'Poozhan'(പൂഴാണ്) or 'Noongal' (നൂങ്ങൾ), or 'Cudeerah' (സുദീരഹ്) in Malayalam. The thali had one fried rava coated fish 'muddoshi', one vegetable preparation, one shell fish 'tisriyo sukhe' preparation, fish curry, and Sol Kaddi made of Kokum. Was pleasantly suprised to find that the dessert in the thali was a slice of fresh fruit 'watermelon'. The goan fish thali served here goes down well with a glass of chilled beer 🍻 and is an escape from the hot sun outside, if you are on a round to the Friday Mapusa Market or even otherwise....
Read moreIt would be a shame not to let everyone know about the incredible service provided to us here!!!
The person who waited on us was incredible in helping us explain the menu, bring out the fresh fish to see what was available and always ensure that he checked-in to see if we required anything!
It was heartwarming to see someone so keen and interested in their customers and his smile made our day.
The food was absolutely smashin! The prawns were cleaned with a great deal of effort and the falvour it imparted once we had a bite was mesmerising!! The fish thali was great too but to me, the prawns thali was a stand out!!
I am really sorry but if the management does see this, if you could reply with the list of your bearers name, I will happily edit this review to include his name. That kind yet amazing person is from Northern Karnataka and his name starts with an "R" I believe. I am not sure but it should be Randeep or something.
Nonetheless, would definitely reend you all to visit the place for the hospitality and food and yes, this is one of those restaurants with more than sufficient...
Read moreI revisited Reis Corner in Mapusa Market after several years, and I'm happy to report that it's still a great spot for a meal. The prices are reasonable, and the food is decent. While the ambiance is just okay, it's not the main highlight of the place.
The dishes we tried were a mixed bag. The Liver Masala Fry was a standout - generous serving and really nice taste. The Butter Naan was also good. On the other hand, the Chicken Lolipop was just average, and the Schezwan sauce could have been thicker, as it was a bit watery. However, the Crumb Fried Chicken was a good value for the price.
One thing to note is that daytime parking can be a bit of a challenge. Overall, Reis Corner is a budget-friendly option that's worth considering. The food is decent, and the prices are reasonable, making it a good choice for those looking for a reliable meal without...
