Surf Shack ARAMBOL BEACH (Under New Management) — Restaurant in Goa

Whilst it has a nice beachfront position and plenty of sun loungers we unfortunately won’t be returning here. When the waiter wanted us to pay for our first round of drinks, our change, which was 42% of the bill, never came back. Later, when he wanted us to pay for our second round, I mentioned he still owed us the change from before and he said it was taken as a tip (at over 40%?). We then bought a third round of drinks and this time the bill was totalled at 35% more than it should have been. I asked for a menu to show the waiter his amount was wrong and he eventually brought one over and corrected it, but not before demanding a tip in there for himself too. Amazing place with a hip laid back atmosphere. Their beach chairs are comfortable and their umbrellas are wide enough to keep you hidden from the sun throughout the day.

I'd particularly suggest their parties, which happen once or twice a week. People of all cultures vibe together. Indians are welcomed well too, unlike a few places which generally ignore the national crowd. Karan and Andrew (I believe they're the organisers) make sure you're well received and have a good time.

The food is amazing with a wide menu. Drinks? Goa. You get everything from Old Monk to Blue Label, wouldn't be surprised if they have a much bigger selection hidden in their bar. Just ask and you shall get.

Recently visited here and it was an absolute disaster. The menu prices were already inflated but we are okay with that.

What was even worse was they have different menu cards. They gave you normal menu card while ordering but use expansive one (So called Bar Menu) for the billing–

The staff seemed uninterested when we questioned these, and there was no one willing to talk. It was clear they were just trying to loot the tourists.

The overall experience felt like a scam. There are plenty of amazing, honest restaurants in Goa, so do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one.
