We stopped at Giri’s because of the reviews while on our way to Manu temple. We loved the dog chilling on a chair as we entered (and gave them lots of pats!) and thought the vibe and views from the top of the cafe were great. We ordered regular coffees and a crispy chilli potato to share. When we went to pay and asked if they accepted card payments they told us they did not and that they accepted Paytm. We chose to pay by cash and were unpleasantly surprised when they asked where we were from and tried to give us less money back than what we were owed (we had to ask for it). We didn’t like the implication or intent behind being asked where we were from in what is known to be a tourist area and wondered whether they would charge you more if you were not from India. The vibes creeped me out and changed my earlier impressions of the space. I’m still salty that I didn’t get to pet the friendly looking cat at the till because I wanted to get out of the place. The food was fine, the views were great and the decor was pretty on point (as was the music) but I wouldn’t go back for the icky feeling the service...

Last year, I visited Manali and stayed at Hostel 360. One of the managers kept telling us, “You must try the brownie at our café,” mentioning it two or three times during our stay.
On the last day, we decided to give it a try. We went to the café, greeted the staff (whom we had seen at the hostel), and ordered two brownies without asking the price. I tried checking the menu, but oddly, the brownie wasn’t even listed. Still, we didn’t think much of it.
It took them about 30 minutes to serve a tiny brownie that honestly tasted old — like it had been made 2-3 days ago. After eating, we went to the counter to ask for the bill, and the lady there said ₹3000. We were shocked — ₹3000 for two tiny, below-average brownies?
I live in Hyderabad, and even in the best cafés there, prices are nowhere near this. It felt like they just made up the price. No menu, no fixed rates — just a scam. I’d strongly advise others to...
Read moreafter a long overnight drive from delhi, we stumbled upon this cafe nearby our hotel. But our experience was horrible. Firstly, the service was very late even a tea took 20 minutes and after receiving one of our orders, it was cold as the manali weather and when we complaint, the server was talking in a very bad tone and after that we asked for a refund on one item 220 rs. They had to call their owner and wait for him to process this situation. I don’t know how they are running this cafe being so chindi and stringent upon not refunding due to bad experience and they ended up wasting our time after-all. We had to let the situation go otherwise they would’ve wasted hours of our time for merely 220 rupees. Secondly, the food we ordered was not good at all. I’d recommend choose a local dhaba or a chai...
