I recently tried the Gujarati thali at Gurudev Restaurant, Vadodara, and it was a really good experience overall.
The thali was unlimited and had great variety – from fresh rotis and puris to sabjis, dal, kadhi, khichdi, farsan, salad, papad and a sweet dish. The taste was homely and authentic, very close to what you’d expect in a Gujarati household. What I loved most was the value for money – at around ₹180 (₹160 if you don’t waste food), it’s absolutely worth it.
Service was quick, and staff made sure plates were refilled without asking too many times. The restaurant is located close to the railway station, which makes it super convenient for travellers.
The only areas that could be better are hygiene and ambience. The place is simple and functional, not very fancy. On a busy day it can get crowded, and utensils/serving bowls could be maintained a little better.
Overall, if you’re at Vadodara and want a pocket-friendly, filling, and authentic Gujarati thali, Gurudev is definitely a...
Read moreIf only I could rate negative on this platform, I certainly would. Highly overrated and over reviewed restaurant. Poor service and low quality can still be ignored, but what forced me to write this is that this place reuses unused food and mixes it in their serving bowls for other customers right in front of your eyes without any sense of shame or guilt. I know what is acute business sense, but re- serving unused food from a thali of one customer to the other in front of the eyes of the public, that too ! It is pathetically disgusting and awful. I have never ever seen anything like this in the entire country of India. I would never again visit this place and sincerely request all who read this review to stay away from it as well, even if it serves...
Read moreI visit this place since 2008. Earlier i visit this place less often. Since 3 years, i visit this place once in a month. It provides very tasty Gujarati food at minimal rate. I prefer to have dinner at this place because in dinner menu, they provide "khichdi" & "Rajasthani Kadhi". Both are unique. Must taste them. Most important thing is, they have lots varieties in food. Like, they don't provide "Roti" only, they also provide "Bajari Rotalo" "Makai Rotalo" "Bhaakhari" "Puri". Whatever you want, you can have. They have also options like " Khichdi/Rice", " Daal/Mithi kadhi/Punjabi kadhi", "Farsan". All are included in One dish & everything is unlimited. The only thing which I don't like, we have to pay extra if we...
