Not so good first visit at Prelude.

A cousin of mine wanted to eat Italian for lunch and I was reminded of Prelude because of the rave reviews. Without second thoughts we reached there and ordered the following.

Pumpkin Soup | Penne Rosa | Loaded Veggie Pizza | Roasted Veggie Fettuccine Pasta | Mix Green Salad (Had to choose mix green salad for the lack of availability of other salads from the menu)

We had asked for the bottled water but the bottle of water was hot. Not lukewarm but literally hot. In the weather that was touching 47 degrees, serving water as hot as that is in no stretch a logical thing to do. When asked about a chilled bottle we were offered ice cubes. It was nice to be offered the ice cubes but a good restaurant will offer it upfront before customers needing to ask for it. Again, the point being the weather was too hot to not being offered chilled water or at least ice cubes from the restaurant’s end.

Cream of Pumpkin soup was the star of the entire meal. The cinnamon powder in the soup gave a good twist to the soup and I enjoyed it. But what sets apart a good Italian restaurant and an okay-ish Italian restaurant is the bread that is served with the soup. Though it is just a single piece of bread, a good Italian restaurant will always serve it with the soup. At Prelude, it was missing.

Penne Rosa tasted good and was loaded with veggies. But the next dish of Pasta looked and tasted exactly the same which was Roasted Veggie Fettuccine.

A salad loving cousin had to choose mix green salad out of compulsion as other salads on the menu were unavailable. The feta in the salad was too little and the sharp taste of vinegar (balsamic?) was overpowering.

Pizza was utterly forgetful and at least 2-3 slices were left uneaten because neither the base nor the sauce or the toppings were appealing to the tastebuds. Pizza was just too dry.

The coke that was ordered was again hot and we figured that the refrigerator must’ve conked off that day. The entire experience just went south with the kind of service because the person serving us did not attend to our questions properly and was just nodding his head in confusion. We were damn confused whether he was nodding a yes or a no and we had to ask for a few things twice or thrice. He just looked uninterested. I had taken the name of the person attending us and if someone can let this review reach the right person from the management I can give more details to her/him. Because even while we asked for salt and pepper which is usually always placed at the table and need not be asked categorically, the staff just brought us the salt. After asking again and waiting for a few minutes we were given the pepper.

All in all it was an experience to be forgotten. Maybe an off day for them but for the customers an off day for a restaurant can mean an expensive affair marred by the below par...

The ambience is extremely good and photogenic. It has a long abstract art, which it is especially known for(I've added it in the pictures).

Otherwise the food was not upto the mark. The pizza was half cooked along with a bit oily feel in the cheese. And lasagna was for some reason sour to extreme levels. The taste that I expected from the hype of this Cafe, I couldn't get it here. I even tried pasta but it was same oily and not at all good in taste.

But on the other hand, Choco lava with vanilla gelato dessert was extremely good. The gelato had a v smooth texture to it and mixing it with choco lava cake, really felt delicious.

I would only recommend this place for its desserts and the ambience which gives a cool feeling because of all the...
