Royal Vega — Restaurant in Gujarat

Visited Royal Vega with my family to celebrate my parents’ anniversary and had a mostly good experience.

What we loved:

Exceptionally courteous staff - they accommodated two extra guests at the last minute with a smile.

The ambience is elegant and truly fine-dining, perfect for special occasions.

The food was the highlight: patra, fafda with kadhi and vagharela marcha, tikhari, shrikhand, khichdi, dal, and kadhi were absolutely spot on!

Special mention to the meva halwa, stuffed chili, and vedmi (puran poli) - rich, authentic, and delicious.

Room for improvement:

I had booked in advance and was sent a menu, but it turned out to be outdated when we arrived. That was disappointing, especially since I had chosen Royal Vega over other places based on that menu.

Some dishes like potato sabzi and chana sabzi felt too basic for a premium thali.

The undhiyu lacked seasonal authenticity (missing Surti papdi, green garlic etc) - perhaps best served only in winter.

Would love to see crisper bhindi and inclusion of bhakri, dal dhokli, or khandvi to truly showcase Gujarati diversity.

Final thoughts: Gujarati cuisine is so much more than fafda and dhokla. I genuinely hope restaurants like Royal Vega lead the way in elevating and celebrating our state’s rich, diverse...

Great ambience and a set up. Excellent property.

The service was not upto the standards. They had everyone asking for order even after we ordered. I requested one to manage the table as I was celebrating son’s 12th birthday, not the table service. Have travelled the world and I see a big difference comparing other hotel chains.

Secondly, the lady had no courtesy and expected a little smile while serving which was disrespectful. When they asked feedback, I shared my honest opinion where they said the lady was sick which was a shocker. I fail to understand why they would keep the staff even if sick.

Lastly, they couldn’t print bills which annoyed me the most. They charge super premium for everything (550 INR per bottle + tax) but can’t provide piece of paper. Offered WhatsApp receipt which was sent incorrectly too. A privacy breach. My experience was not great.

The food was average but nicely presented which was expected.

I didn’t feel valued as they are tad expensive. I wanted everything in order.

Hopefully they learn and take the feedback to...

A special mention to Head Chef Mr. Ompal Singh, whose culinary expertise was evident in every dish. The highlight of the evening, however, was the dessert – Gulab Jamun. It was nothing short of perfection—soft, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Unlike any I’ve had before, it struck the perfect balance of sweetness and richness, making it a one-of-a-kind treat.

Additionally, our personal server provided exceptional service, ensuring a seamless and delightful dining experience. Their attentiveness and warm hospitality made the evening even more special.
