One among the most authentic Yemeni food spots in Hyderabad. You may even feel that you’ve entered some restaurant in Yemen with all the hustle bustle and the waiter placing an order by yelling ‘Wahid Areeka Mahalli’! They serve sizzling Fahsa in a stone pot! Yes! as authentic as it gets!
My favourite picks are:
Fahsa: Yemeni stew served in sizzling hot stone pot. Beware! give it some time before you dunk the flaky khubooz, it can burn your fingers and leave your tongue numb for a week! Comes both in Beef and Goat.
Mutton/Chicken Mandi: We don’t want to drop the word ‘authentic’ over and over but can’t help! Mandi here is as simple as it can get. It won’t overwhelm your taste buds but you may find it difficult to stop ordering more portions unless you are on a diet.
Chicken Shawaya: We believe this is the best grill chicken you can get in Hyderabad. It is different from others as they use very minimal spices rather than dunking the chicken in two dozen marinades. The result is a succulent piece of art! Goes well with their Mandi and Bukhari rice as well as Khubooz.
Chicken Faham: Mostly similar to the Shawaya but cooked in a different method. The chicken goes around in a specially designed rotisserie with lit charcoal and comes out as a smoky sibling of the Shawaya.
Mutton Hanidh: Slow cooked mutton chunks that fall off the bone. Goes well with rice, Mandi or Bukhari.
Khubooz: Flaky Yemeni bread. You can wrap an entire goat in their double khubooz.
Areeka: Addictive dessert made with dates, bread, cream, cheese, honey, topped with crunchy sesame! It’s heavy! Make sure you have at least 3-4 people to share, else you might despise your life! Second only to Kunafa.
Zurbiyan: A royal version of mandi served only for lunch on Fridays and Sundays.
Please feel free to try any item on the menu including Aqda, Laham sughar, Ful etc.

Read moreIf you're in Hyderabad and looking for a place that truly delivers authentic Arabic flavor with Hyderabadi soul, Al Wadi Restaurant is an absolute gem.
From the moment you walk in, there's an inviting aroma of slow-cooked meat, basmati rice, spices, and charcoal grills. The ambiance is clean, comfortable, and surprisingly calm for such a popular spot. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or just treating yourself, the space feels welcoming and tastefully done — some branches even offer majlis-style floor seating that adds to the cultural vibe.
The highlight, of course, is the food. Their mutton mandi and chicken kabsa are cooked to perfection — the meat is unbelievably tender, falling off the bone, and the rice is flavorful, fragrant, and buttery-soft. Portions are generous, easily sharable, and plated with elegance. The accompanying sauces — especially the spicy tomato chutney and garlic dip — take the whole meal to another level.
You can also try their grilled chicken, fish mandi, or alfaham platters, which are just as impressive. The grill marks are real, the flavor goes deep, and nothing feels rushed. For those who love balance, the blend of Middle Eastern spices and local taste buds hits the sweet spot.
Service is polite and quick, even during rush hours. Staff are well-trained and attentive, and the kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing. Hygiene is well-maintained, which adds to the overall comfort of dining here.
And finally — the value. For the quality and quantity of food you get, Al Wadi is incredibly fair with pricing. You leave not just full, but satisfied in every way.
Al Wadi isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a celebration of taste, tradition, and togetherness.

Read moreI have been a loyal customer at Al Wadi for the past two years, and until recently, I never had a bad experience. Unfortunately, things have changed. It seems that now, with an increase in customers, they no longer care about quality or service.
We always ordered foul, and it used to be our favorite dish. However, on our last visit, it was served cold and tasted off—almost stale. When we brought this to the waiters’ attention, instead of addressing the issue, they simply argued, insisting that it was “supposed to be like that.” But as regular customers, we know how it should taste.
Frustrated, I told them we would pay for the food but asked them to take it away. I then approached the manager/receptionist to report the poor food quality and the waiters’ unprofessional behavior. Shockingly, they didn’t even respond, let alone take responsibility.
This was beyond disappointing—it was unacceptable. It’s clear that Al Wadi no longer values its customers; they only care about making money. What used to be a great place is now serving stale food without any accountability.
If you’re considering dining here, I strongly advise against it. You might be risking your health. Instead, I recommend trying Al Kabir, the restaurant next door. They serve fresh food and actually take responsibility if something goes wrong—unlike Al Wadi.
Al Wadi used to be good, but now it’s just a place with stale food and bad service. Definitely not...
