I’ve ordered from Kolkata House through Swiggy and Zomato several times, and while I’ve had some decent experiences, there’s always been one recurring issue – the food arriving cold. Every time I’ve raised this concern, the restaurant claims the food is handed over piping hot to the delivery boy, and any delays happen during delivery. Despite this, I continued to give them another chance.
Today, I decided to visit the restaurant in person, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was another letdown. I had to wait for a solid 20 minutes before anyone came to take my order, and I had to call out to the staff to get some attention. Finally, my order was taken.
When my chicken biryani arrived, I was extremely disappointed. The biryani was served cold, and the taste was far from what I expected—definitely not up to the standard of a good Kolkata-style biryani. I’ve always been a big fan of Kolkata-style chicken biryani, but this was the worst version I’ve had, to the point that it completely ruined my taste for it.
I can’t speak for the other items on the menu, but from my experience, if you're looking for a good chicken biryani, this place doesn’t deliver. There are only a handful of Bengali restaurants in Hyderabad, and it's a shame that Kolkata House isn't living up to its potential. Many customers, including myself, were visibly upset with both the food quality and the service.
I hope they take customer feedback seriously and improve their offerings, but as of now, I won’t be...
Read moreI’ve known Deep Da, the owner of Kolkata House, for over 22 years. I first met him at a small Bengali restaurant just outside the boundary of Ramakrishna Mission near Lower Tank Bund. Even back then, his love for Bengali cuisine was obvious, and it’s no surprise that he’s built Kolkata House into what it is today, a haven for anyone seeking authentic Bengali food.
For me, Kolkata House has always been the place to go for real, home-style Bengali flavors. The Shorshe Ilish is spot on with its mustard kick, the Kosha Mangsho is rich and comforting, and the Chingri Malai Curry feels like a special treat every time. Even something as simple as Aloo Posto hits the mark perfectly. And let’s not forget their desserts, the mishti doi and rosogolla are just the way they should be, sweet and satisfying.
Recently, they’ve started serving Bengali breakfast, and it’s already a hit. The Luchi-Cholar Dal and Ghugni are like a little taste of Kolkata mornings, simple, flavorful, and nostalgic.
If you’re in Hyderabad and craving good Bengali food, Kolkata House is where you should head. Great food, reasonable prices, and a vibe that makes you feel at home. Deep Da’s passion really shines through in every dish. Highly...
Read moreI am the same person who gave you 5 stars years back . And I guess now it's time that I change my review for your restaurant. Your staffs are so much irresponsible. I have been eating at your restaurant since more than 5 years now . I am either ordering from you online or offline by visiting your restaurant. Today also I visited your restaurant cause you were offline on Zomato and swiggy . Do you think there are no other restaurants near my house ? I have plenty . But I still decided to drive and take the food for take away . I simply ordered an alu chicken curry and I asked for some extra gravy . Instead of giving extra gravy , you made sure that it's lesser than usual gravy . Any request you put in can't be fulfilled cause of your policies . I think it's time that people should understand you are getting supremely expensive and no customer service at all . It's getting supremely poor service . I will make sure to come and meet you personally and will pass on this feedback to you . But trust me you are losing one of your loyal customers . I am going to make sure to rate you every possible place as poor customer service . I am very unhappy with...
