The name Santosh Dhaba is synonymous with vegetarian food and quite popular. Are they part of the same franchise? Yet to figure that out as the place and staff were fully busy when we went there for lunch today
Ambiance : Quite tastefully done , quite a lot of money must have been spent. Especially in the A/C section where the A/C’s were running non-stop and was much needed due to sultry spell of heat that is looming all across. Eating and sweating is never a good thing, hence the pleasant ambiance inside was a welcome relief
Rating -4/5
Service : Was fast and the person serving us took good care to explain and get things done correctly, but the noise levels from the kitchen were so high ( A/C section is located near the kitchen) that it felt that people were fighting inside. One person was screaming the food orders , few appeared to be replying back about the status. Didn’t know if they were arguing, screaming or cursing in some native language. Overall the noise levels were very bad. Folks sitting at a table beside us also complained at the noise level. This is near the a/c section which is close to the kitchen. The front area of the restaurant was fairly silent and I guess properly insulated
Rating - 1/5 because of the noise level and disturbance
Food :
9 hungry folks definitely put the restaurant’s service and food to test and they came out pretty okay at best. Rating – 3/5
In starters we had Chilly Paneer – Where the paneer was bit hard , having it softer would have made the dish perfect
Mushroom 65 – This was better of the two starter dishes, mushroom by itself has an earthy flavor but it was made spicy and flavorful which was a welcome change.
As part of the main course we ordered for Veg Kolapuri , Paneer Tikka Masala , Alu gobi masala – the base gravy appeared to be the same as the flavors were quite similar to each other but still tasty.
The quantity& the taste for that price is good – Value for money
Mushroom biryani and Veg handi biryani were a little oily but taste wise still good. Mushroom biryani could have been better with bigger and more number of mushroom pieces in it , Veg handi biryani had the right proportion of rice and vegetables and tasted good with the mirchi ka salan and raita.
Overall : A decent place to satiate your hunger pangs which is not heavy on your wallet but...
