This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at any Udipi Upahar branch. I visited the Gowlidoddi outlet today with my kids just to have coffee, and the cashier’s behavior was absolutely unacceptable.
While waiting in the queue, I politely asked him how much a coffee costs for online payment. Instead of answering, he kept saying “wait a minute” — again and again — even as the line grew longer. When I asked him clearly about the price for two coffees, he arrogantly demanded that I show a payment screenshot before even telling me how much to pay!
When I questioned his behavior, he rudely said, “Go talk to the manager,” and when I asked where the manager was, he laughed and said, “I am the manager.” His tone was disrespectful, his attitude was arrogant, and he behaved as if customers don’t matter at all.
It’s shocking that a reputed place like Udipi Upahar allows such rude and unprofessional staff to deal with customers. If this person truly is the manager, it’s even more disappointing. With this kind of behavior, I’ll never visit this branch again and would strongly advise others to...
Read moreExpect normal fare and you'll be happy. The food is far from authentic Udupi style. Plus, they had a Davanagere Benne Dosa which was a normal dosa with a little butter (Benne) applied on top with a spoon. The dosa felt a little uncooked and the potato masala was from a masala dosa. The chutney is almost devoid of coconut, which is the main ingredient in original Udupi style. Those looking for authentic Davanagere Benne Dosa (which is not original Udupi cuisine) should look elsewhere, but those who are new to Udupi stuff should be happy.
The Gachibowli one used to be good and close to the real stuff. While I know that food often loses its authenticity when out of its natural boundaries to suit the taste of the locals, one would expect a little effort towards keeping it as close to original...
Read moreI recently visited Udipi and was shocked by the poor standards. They served hot soup in a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon, which is unacceptable! Not only is it a health hazard—releasing millions of microplastics that can harm our white blood cells and potentially cause cancer—but it's also just plain irresponsible. When we're paying ₹100 for a soup, the least they could do is serve it in a proper steel or ceramic container. To make things worse, the bread they served was old and had a weird taste. I expected better from this place, but it seems like they don't care about their customers' health or the quality of their food. Extremely...
