TLDR: Great food, amazing soup, equally great crispy potato salad, Pizza base could be better, refreshing watermelon mojito. photogenic + picturesque + beautiful cafe but the vibes were a complete let down by devotional songs, Loud AC, Diesel Generator fumes, lackluster and lazy service.
Detailed Review: How do I approach this review? Cz the food was good and authentic but a restaurant is not just food else this would have got easy 5 stars from me. So let me break it down how Google does - into Food, Service and Atmosphere. Food: as a couple with small appetites, we ordered just a tomato soup, crispy potato salad, watermelon mojito and Pizza. Tomato soup 🍲 was very good, it was thick and by thick I mean it was made naturally thick with pumpkin and carrot paste along with fresh tomato puree, it was filled with veggies, the texture was not like how you get in your average cafe which is not thick and full of cornflour. The taste was on point too and honestly it was a given at this point provided all natural ingredients and procedure they followed a 10/10 from my soup connoisseur wife. So they got a perfect opening with the soup. Next was crispy potato salad, 🥗 it was a basic dish made with smashed potatoes fried/air-fried to crisp, marinated and tossed with salad veggies. What they did with this was genius and so underrated, instead of coating it with mayonnaise for marinate they used hung curd and that elevated the taste, texture, health and protein content of the dish, I do wish they'd have added more veggies for the actual salad part but man it was so tasty 8.5/10. Pizza we ordered was thin crust, had in house sauce which was tasty, had zucchini, broccoli, baby corn, beans and cheese. Cheese and sause fused nicely to give it that distinct and authentic taste + the veggies added that crunch. I do wish they'd work more on that base, I've had thin crust base which were soft and airy despite of being pressed into a thin crust. This one however was neither soft nor airy but dense and a bit hard to bite and chew which ruined the mouth feel and took away our attention from such a great topping game they've got going on 6.5/10. Watermelon mojito was so refreshing, nothing to complain here it was like a cherry on top of the perfectly good experience we were having with the food solid 9/10.
Now If you're reading till this point, get ready for the shocker: the service and the atmosphere. Service: let's just keep it short by saying the service was lacking, slow and not attentive at all, it didn't feel like there was any service at all, very disconnected and lackluster. Atmosphere: Check out my photos for this review and add "radhe radhe radhe barsane wale radhe" devotional song to this English cafe like setting of this beautiful cafe. This was followed by strange and weird arabic music which again did not match the vibe, 70s Bollywood Instrumental would be a better than any of these and English pop would sit right with the vibe. Near the end of our journey the power went off and we realised how obnoxiously loud the AC was and then came the generator and the smell of burning fuel of that generator, the smell was so strong we could feel itchiness in the back of our throats so we asked the waiter to pack rest of the pizza. Would I return? Maybe—for the food, definitely not for the atmosphere unless these issues...
Read moreHas been serving Indore for a decade now ! Ambiance is pretty good ! Washrooms are neat and clean . There is a single boom box type music system which may seem pretty loud to some nearby tables . This place and mangosteen are best to dine when you are around Chappan Dukan place ! Since Mangosteen is under renovation as of September 2022 you should come here ! You can have conversations with the staff in English or Hindi ! Staff is very supportive. This place is ideal to come with partner and friends ! When bringing your parents please take the table far from that boom box ! It may get pretty loud . Talking about the food ! When in doubt start with Onion rings and Watermelon mojito / juice that is served in a watermelon! You can have a 20” pizza ! Too that will serve 2 people who are hungry ! Taste is pretty good , seats are clean cushions are fluffy . There is a big projector screen as well as multiple screens installed in the premises ! Also try LIIT ! Its pretty popular there . Prices are nominal ! We had Watermelon mojito , Onion rings and a 20” pizza that costed as around INR 1100 which is...
Read moreCafe Mamaloca unfortunately fell short of expectations during my recent visit. While the ambience was decent, with a cozy atmosphere perfect for a casual gathering or solo work session, the overall experience was marred by subpar service and lackluster food. The service left much to be desired, with slow and inattentive staff members failing to provide timely assistance or address customer needs. This lack of attentiveness detracted from the enjoyment of the meal and left a disappointing impression. Additionally, the food quality did not meet expectations. The taste was underwhelming, with dishes lacking flavor and freshness. Despite the variety on the menu, the execution fell short, resulting in a mediocre dining experience. Overall, while Cafe Mamaloca may have potential, it currently struggles to deliver a satisfying experience due to its poor service and lackluster food quality. With improvements in these areas, it could become a more appealing destination for patrons seeking a reliable...
