The Jaipur Club is an affiliate of my home club and so i decided to stay here for 3 nights on our visit to Jaipur. I was taken in with the much advertised antiquity of the club ( it was established in 1890) and expected it to be another colonial style experience, that other vintage clubs around the country offer. The Jaipur Club is sadly terrible in every respect. Firstly it is ugly and dirty. Additions and "improvements' have been thoughtlessly made to a heritage building and rendered it characterless. The rooms are basic and severely lack proper maintenance. The staff are crude, untrained and amateurish and so cannot deliver an experience despite theri best intentions. They also seem utterly unmotivated and inept. Its like staying in one of the poorer government hostels or rest houses. The food is well priced and some dishes are decent. But all in all its an avoidable place for your stay in Jaipur. One of the prestigious clubs of India with glorious history (established in 1890! Wow) and strong affiliations with other clubs across the country. The club is managed well keeping pace with modern times while maintaining the charm. The lawns and facilities are impressive. The food including snacks can give any restaurant stiff competition. Fail to understand why the service is slow and a compromise. If this aspect can be improved, it would be a...
Read moreAn old Club with some renovations being done. Got a chance to stay there as it had reciprocal membership with my club. check in and check out timings are 12pm and 10am respectively but they allow your luggage to be kept in the makeshift cloak room. Rooms need a makeover especially washrooms. Management needs to concentrate on the service part which seems to be dead slow. Menu suggestions are forced upon the guests as on asking for some dish its denied citing something or the other lame excuse. Service staff have a careless attitude and are not motivated to a guest service centric approach. Considering all this the club seems to be overpriced seeing the rooms which need to be renovated matching a 3 star hotel room atleast, and the service need to be improved with a check by management. Overall had a...
Read moreWe stayed here recently and it was an experience we would like to forget. I have never seen a more badly maintained/ run down room. Mind you we were staying in a “ Super Deluxe room”.
My reasons being :
The wall paper was peeling off at various locations. Bedsheets were stained and nowhere near white. The basin drain was filthy as tho it had never been cleaned. The toilet bowl was not clean. Cable remote was broken and cable TV wasnt working. When we asked the staff to have a look, I guess they thought it’s not important to merit coming to the room to have a look at it. Total disinterest.
We had booked for 2 days but, ran away in a day.
If the Management is reading this, I hope they take the above on board and take...
