I had given the rating immediately post the visit - but writing this review a little late as I visited here for dinner on 11th November, 2021 - I remember the date as it was a very special occasion for us.
First the good parts:
The location - the set up - and the ambience created was very sober and smart. The feeling overall was quite good - not too crowded - not too noisy - a nice garden and just the set up we wanted for the occasion.
The menu was impressive - a good part of the same was devoted to healthy recipes - something missing in most good cafes in Jaipur.
Whatever we tried turned out to be good - the soups, the Quinoa salad, the starters, the beverage - the best it seems was reserved for the last. The desserts. The Tiramisu was quite decent - but what stole the show was the Cheesecake which we ordered as an after thought. At most cafes in Jaipur you only get Cheesecakes smothered with spreads - blueberry, Nutella, Biscoff and what not - this one though was a plain Cheesecake. But it was so amazing that we discussed that this possibly was the best Cheesecake in Jaipur.
The okay part:
After looking at the serving sizes - we felt the things were overpriced by at least 20-25%. It's purely a business decision by the owners and they know best how price sensitive (or not) is their clientele. But I'm free to share my opinion in my review.
But why the 3 Stars:
In the later part of our dinner - something strange started happening. One after the other - we surrounded by 3-4 cats. Not sure those were pets or stray ! As long as it was one odd - it looked cute - we were fine as it was in our line of sight. But when there were so many around us - we got conscious and disturbed. We requested the staff to interfere - but they refused to even come closer. The only thing they told us a couple of times that we should not feed them - which we had no intention of doing in any case. We lost all interest in the food - and finally the dreaded thing happened. One of the cats attacked my wife's plate and scratched her hand badly. Sadly - the staff did not show any concern or empathy even after this.
We literally stood up after that - requested for our check - paid and left.
So in spite of the beautiful setting, decent food and a special occasion that went well in the most part - we left with my wife with a badly scratched hand on her 20th Wedding Anniversary.
It's 11th of February 2022 today - exactly 3 months - we have never even discussed or considered going back to JM for a meal. That's why...
Read moreI’ve been going to JMK ever since I moved back to Jaipur a little over 4 years ago. And I strongly think winter afternoons are the best time to dine there. The beautiful patio with the tables out in the sun. Gorgeous! I’m really fond of the ingredients they use - always so fresh! The food has been pretty nice. However, I’d say that off late both the food taste and service has dipped. It just doesn’t feel as good. And when you pay those exorbitant prices you sure expect a goof time. Below is some of the stuff I’ve ordered once or sometimes multiple times: Rosa Rossa (5/5) - my favorite drink there. Sometimes I drink up to 3 of those in one meal. Iced Tea (4.5/5) - perfectly brewed and not too sweet at all. Phool-on Power (3/5) - I didn’t enjoy this partner Kombucha at all. It lacked taste. Avo Avo (5/5) - my go to salad on their menu! I order it every time. JM Chili Toastie (4/5) - extremely tiny portion but really tasty! The Jackfruit Taco (3/5) - I was so excited for this but sadly it didn’t hit the spot at all. Beirut Mezze Platter 2.0 (4/5) - big sharing platter and really yummy! Vegetable Curry Momo (2/5) - oddly sweet curry with bland momos. Lacked balance. Again; a miss! Pesto Pasta (1/5) - tasted really boring and bland! I wish they’d some veggies to it to bring some texture to the dish. The seasoning was off too. Lasagna Neopolitan (4.5/5) - really enjoyed eating this! JM Noodle Bowl (4/5) - perfect lunch for one on a chilly afternoon! Mediterraneo Pizza (3.5/5) - pretty average! Sicily Sandwich (4.5/5) - yum yum yum! Tiramisu (4/5) - one of the best ones in the city. Rustic Chocolate Cake (1/5) - total let down. The cake tasted like sand. So meh. Torta Dulce (3/5) -...
Read moreQuite disappointed by this place, the yard looked so relaxed on the pictures, but it is situated right next to a bust road, so did not had the chill and tranquill vibe I was getting from the photos.
We ordered sweet potato fries and the thai curry. Afterwards a waiter came and told us that they were out of sweet potato and recommended the normal fries, which we accepted. 2 minutes later another waiter informed us about the same exact thing. It seems almost like there is too many waiters, and one does not know what the other one is doing. During our meal there were 3 young waiters standing next to us doing nothing, so it felt like being observered while eating, which was a bit annoying.
The food was below average the fries was not even fresh handcutted potatoes but obviously reheated frozen fries and the curry was so dull and boring it also tasted like a fastfood meal.
The only thing I enjoyed was the beautiful enterior and quiet music. But altogether I Will not recommend this place, is overpriced under average food in a...
