Rajasthani Thali Dal Bati Churma is a dedicated vegetarian restaurant in Bani Park, Jaipur (Gayatri Sadan, AC‑4, Sawai Jai Singh Highway, near Collectorate Circle). It specializes in the typical Rajasthani cuisine, especially the signature Dal Bati Churma thali. Opens daily around 11 AM and stays open till about 11 PM. The restaurant is well‑known among locals and tourists alike, often rated ~4.1‑4.2 out of 5 on many platforms.
Authentic Taste of Key Dishes Many reviews praise the Dal Bati Churma options for being close to traditional Rajasthani flavour. The bati—both plain and masala variants—receive positive feedback, especially when hot and served with enough ghee. Churma (sweet component) is often described as soft, tasty, and fulfilling expectations. The dal is generally good, comforting, though some variation exists.
Variety in the Thali The thali often includes more than just dal, bati, churma: items like gatte ki sabzi, kadhi, chutneys, rice, papad, salad, etc. In some special thalis, multiple types of churma (plain, besan etc.) or special baati are included. These add richness and variety. Unlimited refills are available in many cases for the thali, which many find a plus.
Ambience & Staff For many, the ambience is decent; not very fancy or luxurious, but sufficient for enjoying traditional food. The place is considered family‑friendly. Staff are often described as polite and welcoming. Service is considered decent especially during non‑peak hours.
Value to Some Diners Several reviews mention that for the price paid, especially in the mid‑range thalis (~₹350‑₹525 depending on type), the meal gives good variety and enough quantity. For people wanting to try traditional food in Jaipur without going for high‑end places, this place tends to satisfy.
Price vs Expectation A number of diners believe that the thali is on the pricier side, especially if portions are not generous or food not up to the best standard. Some feel charged for full plates even if parts are missing or if churma portions are small.
Ambience / Cleanliness Not Always Excellent While many are okay with the ambience, some say it could be better — décor is simple, lighting or layout perhaps could be improved. Cleanliness is generally acceptable but occasional lapses (table cleanliness, washrooms etc.) have been mentioned.
Detailed Breakdown of Key Items
Bati: When well done, it is crisp‑outside, soft inside, appropriately ghee‑coated. But if overbaked or left sitting, becomes hard. The masala bati is generally liked more than plain in many reviews.
Dal: Flavorful in many instances; comfortingly spiced. But some find it less robust than home‑cooked versions. Sometimes flavour balance or consistency (thickness, salt, spice) are off.
Churma: Sweet churma tends to be a highlight. Multiple variants of churma are appreciated. Sometimes plain churma or besan churma are better rated than special types.
Supporting dishes: Gatte ki sabzi and kadhi are often present; some people love them, others find them sour or over‑tomatoey. Chutneys, salad, papad usually help balance.
Final Verdict
If you're in Jaipur and want to experience Dal Bati Churma in a setting that’s fairly close to the traditional, this restaurant does a good job. Expect solid food, good variety, and a thali experience that gives more than just the basics. For casual dining or meeting friends/family, it works well.
However, don’t expect perfection: during busy times, portions & food temperature may dip; the service may slow; the price can feel a bit steep for what you get in some cases. If possible, visiting at a less busy hour will likely give better experience. Also check if you’re getting enough dal and whether the bati is fresh & soft.
Overall, a good pick for traditional Rajasthani food, especially if you prioritise authenticity over fine...
Read moreSpecial hands down for this authentic Rajasthani Food which we had in Jaipur for two days in a row, would have continued for third day too if stay was extended 🙈.
@dalbatichurmajpr is a cozy restaurant located in Baani Park which serves you great food with all their love. It’s ambience make you feel like you having food in a mini palace. Rarely it happens that you like every item in the thali, but this thali stands out. I am extreme lover of Dal-Baati but then apart from that I don’t wanted to touch other items in the thali until owner of this place insisted on tasting other too with an assurance of wanting more. I followed his lead and glad I did it. I have never liked Churma before, I had this notion that ‘Churma item’ is unnecessary served with Dal-Baati and ruins the dish. This place serve you with two different churmas, 1. Baati Churma 2. Besan Churma. No exaggeration but both taste heaven, perhaps, I never had tasted churmas this good before.
Special mention for Panchmel Dal, with perfect tempering, all of the dals contributed their flavour to it so well which you can feel while having every single morsel. And Gatte ki sabzi (made with gram flour), garlic chutney, green chillies pickle and ghee dunked Baatis- traditionally made in jagra, not in oven. Everything is to the point.
How can I forget to say about ‘kadhi’. Only kadhi in the world I savour is one which my mother makes, no other kadhi can give justice to it. To my surprise, this kadhi exactly tasted like how my mother makes it. For a moment, I felt that did she go in their kitchen and instructed them😆
I have to tell you this, you get Thaali here at very reasonable rate, it is 350 Rs for unlimited. And owner of this place will be personally taking care of you and ensuring you are enjoying Rajasthani Thaali in a right way 😁
If visiting Jaipur again in future, this place will be one of the main reasons. And even if you are planning for Jaipur trip, make sure you go here and treat yourself with Lip- smacking Rajasthani Thaali😊 and do not forget to...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant, which is known for its Rajasthani thali, and I have mixed feelings about the experience. The place itself was good, with attentive service and decent food overall. The thali items were well-prepared and offered a taste of Rajasthan's culinary delights, and the prompt service was a plus.
However, the major downside was the prices. The restaurant's pricing strategy seemed focused on making customers opt for the thali, and sharing it was not allowed. This made the overall cost way too expensive, and even the other menu items were priced quite high.
👉 In my opinion, they should consider allowing sharing of the thali if customers choose not to opt for the unlimited food option. This way, it would offer more flexibility to diners who may prefer a lighter meal or want to try different dishes without feeling compelled to get the full thali.
Gluten free options in the thali: Besan churma, besan baati, gatte ki sabzi, rice, chilli chutney and daal. Kadhi contains curd (dairy). Normal churma and baati contains wheat.
Unfortunately, the taste of the food was only average, and I found it hard to justify the exorbitant prices.
While the Rajasthani thali experience was pleasant, I couldn't overlook the high prices and average taste. If you're looking for an authentic Rajasthani thali, this restaurant might be worth a try, but be prepared for the premium pricing. If you are on a budget or seeking exceptional taste, you may want to explore other dining options...
