Hello everyone! I am your "GYM WAALE SIR"..…You all know my liking for non veg dishes and I have tried them everywhere in Jaipur. I heard about this place and I referred it to an old member who is greatly attached to me and who had come from Pune for a visit. He took me along. We had dinner and we did not face any parking problem. The place has a ramp and so it accessible to wheel chairs too. The ambience is great. They have a dining hall and another place leading by a few very shallow stairs to a well decorated hall which resembles a "shikara" or a boat.
Talking of food; we ordered Goshtaba and the Korma because we wanted a red and a white preparation. We started with the Korma and I doubted that the white Goshtaba would not taste nice after that. Talking about the Korma, let me tell you that I have tasted Kormas at many places but this had just the right blend of spices. It was spicy but not to the extent of burning your tongue. It had the right aroma, a subtle lingering taste and it did not leave your nails colored as often happens when artificial colours are added. The mutton was perfectly cooked and the meat came off the bones in a very succulent manner. Then we moved on to the Goshtaba. We were in two moods now expecting that the white recipe will perhaps not taste that good after the Korma but we were in for a surprise..! The Goshtaba had its own unique flavour and it was not overshadowed by the Korma. The curry of this recipe and the flavour was unique and it should be taken without rice or naan to get the complete savoury flavour. I could have eaten a lot of I had taken it without rice..(LOL). These are meatballs, well balanced and tasty.
The price was a little on the higher side but won't dent your pocket because the serving size was plentiful and one plate of each was more than enough for the two of us (and at least I am a good eater..)
Now let me tell you two important points which people may take as negative but I appreciated. First, it takes them some time (around 10 minutes) to serve you. I think every good eatery takes time to make the dish perfect. It is not a "dhaba" which gives you instant pre cooked food in a jiffy. Second, it is their frankness to tell you if something is missing from their menu because every item is not held by every diner and so some recipes which are not known by the diners are not ordered much. Hence, it is not commercially viable for them to prepare. They do it if they are given prior confirm orders some 6-8 hours in advance. Perfectly understandable....
The cutlery was traditional and set for the ambience.
Perhaps, this review has gone long but a good place should have an elaborate review to reach out to all. I surely recommend it to everyone and even to the gym goers because the non veg is not done overly to rob it of its nutrition contents nor it has an oily, useless gravy.
Last, but not the least; I had my stomach full but my inner self was insatiated... It craved for more. We were the last to leave and had it not been that, I would perhaps have returned back for a little...
Read moreThis review is regarding the utterly disappointing service and food available at ZARPAR. Our family is a regular at Zarpar, we love it for its authentic and delicious Kashmiri Cuisine and the wonderful service.
Today during our latest visit at Zarpar, I ordered a Kashmiri Dish (which is closest to Chicken Biriyani), I have this dish regularly at Zarpar so instructed the waiter to have it prepared accordingly, but to my utter disappointment he refused to have it made in the way I used to have it before, I asked for the Manager and requested him for the same, which after initial discussion was agreed by him. OK so after waiting for the dish for close to 20 min, I was really excited to see it arrive to my table, but alas tht xcitement was short lived, as soon as I saw and tasted the dish I knew it was something else, it was just plain PULAO with few chicken pieces.
I asked for the Manager , and requested once more to have it prepared again, which was agreed by him.... after waiting for another good 15-20 min the dish arrived, supposedly to my instructions, but I was wrong again they had just added some fried chilly pieces and nothing else, which made it super spicy.
I didn't panic and with another request to Manager asked him to redo the dish again, after the same waiting period the dish arrived with nothing changed to the taste of it, by this time I was so tired and hungry that I ate some of it and left after paying the bill.
I believe this has something to do with the change in Management, as I cd nt find the old Manager who use to run the restaurant.
After this utterly disappointing visit, me and my family are definitely going to avoid ZARPAR. it's golden days are over and just a faded image remains. BTW we also ordered Veg biriyani and Paneer tikka, which was also bland and without any so called Authentic Kashmiri Taste. Lemon soda was good though!! #zarpar #food #biryani #jaipur #disaapointment...
